i follow these instructions and tried 3 different brands of usb sticks and each time it flashes for a few seconds than goes stable blue light which indicates its not working. does that mean i need a new bios chip?

Edit: This BIOS update enabled me to be able to boot from a Samsung 950 Pro NVMe drive. However it did not work with the Samsung PM1725 NVMe.

I've been successful in flashing this BIOS. However my Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard does not allow me to boot from a Samsung NVMe drive.

Hi Guys

Can somebody help me. I got the Sabertooth Z77 tried your mod bios and build one myself. But since my knowledge only goes as far as "follow an manual" can somebody build a bios that actual works with my nvme. I can't get it to show up in my bios or in the Disk Utility screen.

NVME SSD will not appear in BIOS, you must follow certain method/steps exactly to install system onto new NVME with this kind of BIOS mod
Please see "What should I do" step #4 here and follow each step exactly - https://www.win-raid.com/t871f50-Guide-H...-BIOS.html

I checked the BIOS package at post one, and ONLY the BIOS named Z77ST.CAP has been NVME modified (and that's not done in an ideal manner), the other is stock BIOS (SABERTOOTH-Z77-ASUS-2104.CAP) So if you are using the BIOS from post one, be sure you try the one named Z77ST.CAP

If that does not work for you, here is properly done (Well modern method used, commonly accepted proper method) NVME Mod. Do not rename BIOS if using flashback, must be flashed with USB Flashback, or other known working methods for mod BIOS and this series. For flashback, smaller cheaper USB work best, such as 128MB-2GB, and it should be formatted as FAT32. LED on flashback button or USB will flash several times, then start flashing faster and faster until done. This takes a minute or two. If it only flashes a few times and then stays solid or off, the USB is not compatible or not setup correctly.

Use the BIOS already made in this thread, or the one I added to that thread in my reply.

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply. I used your bios..(thanks for that) and followed the stap 4.
When I boot in to Mac OSX the NVME isnt showing up in Disk Utility Mojave should natively accept nvme
I included screens from my bios.. maybe there is still a setting wrong?

You're welcome. Following step #4 in that guide is for booting off the NVME, so I'm confused on what's going on here, what drive are you booting MAC from?

This has nothing to do with MAC OSX etc, if you are booting to another disk (not the NVME) the NVME would always show up even without BIOS mod, unless you have a faulty disk, or you need a certain format for things to show up there. I don't use MAC, so I don't know how similar what you mention is to windows device manager, but in windows if you do not see a disk in device manager then it's a failed drive (DOA) or some other issue. The BIOS mod is only needed to boot from the NVME, otherwise the disk always will be usable as a secondary spare drive.

Maybe for MAC/OSX you need some special/certain driver for NVME? Confused here though, not sure what you're doing or how things are connected, what your goal is etc.
