Hi LosSantosPro,

I have been struggling with my 4 year Lenovo Z580 ideapad that abruptly getting TurnedOff within 45 to 50 seconds of a power TurnOn. Upon multiple trials i used to get very rare successful boots (keeping itself turned on even for a full day) out of 20/30 poweron attempts, and meanwhile i managed to run lenovo diags basic/extended on all peripherals successfully, and managed to repair broken win 10 system/boot files couple of times too thinking its BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO, but since couple of days its ALWAYS switching off within a Minute! Upon a lot of research i thought it could be since corrupted BIOS (might be caused by overheating CPU and fan not working for couple of weeks!).

So today, i decided to flash BIOS and followed your instructions in the mail chain, started flashing BIOS-Mod-V3-1... via a USB stick i prepared, though i'm quite fearful about an abrupt shutdown! Exactly that's what happened during flash progress just when FPT erased my current BIOS and when about to write new files Sad ...As a result it seems i lost current/damaged BIOS and now if i try to boot, it starts with black screen!!! ofcourse i'm able to sense ideapad turning on due to LEDs and HDD noise but can't do anything. EVEN TO DO ANYTHING, as usally its getting Turning Off within 45seconds! So can't move further at all! All it happened like a deadlock among AbruptPowerOffsWithinSecondsOfBoot Vs CorruptedBIOS i assumed. Went through many relevant discussions and tried all Function key tricks to pullout BIOS flash utility onto screen but of no luck!

It doesn't have any warranty now and this awesome piece served me for 4 years without any small pain like driver/bios/hardware/os/reg issues. Originally came with Win7 and updated Win 10 Anniversary an year ago. Any chance/way that we can recover/reflash BIOS without opening hardware? Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I want to flash this mod on my Lenovo Z580.

But I want to leave the original DMI region with my information about the UUID SN and so on.

Please, if you have utilities for editing the DMI region for the Lenovo Idea Pad Z580 , send a link to the download Please(as far as I know this is the LERW utility ...).

Or, if you know how to completely transfer the information of DMI region, from my firmware backup to the firmware mod file, please write.

Or, if you know how to specify parameters for the flash utility(fpt), so that it does not erase the region's DMI, please write.

Regards!

Hey Guys,
i got a z580 with i7 3612qm, nvidia 630m(is this right? did the notebook even come with this graphics card? i read 635m all the time) and originally 8gb Ram.
i upgraded to 2X 8GB Ram and have now a very slow boot and high processor usage even in idle. Notebook gets unusable... (apparently z580 doesnt support more than 8gb ot of the box) when i switch from "optimus" to "uma only" in bios settings the notebook boots and runs normally. I use Linux Mint 19 if that is important

will this bios update let me use 16gb Ram with optimus? or does it add another option for a discrete graphics card use (i want to use nvidia all the time, because there is no need to save power)

Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated Big Grin
