[REQUEST] Dell XPS 13 9350 BIOS Unlock
#1
Hello guys,

I would like to get unlocked bios for DELL xps13 with skylake processor (9350).
Official bios can be found here: http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03769593..._1.4.4.exe

If anyone would be able to unlock it or at least give me some instructions I would really appreciate it. Thanks.   Blush

Hi I'm trying to unlock menus on my XPS 13 9350 for turbo and tdp control purposes.  I've spent a lot of time on it with a few different methods but I'm not sure how to proceed.  There are two hidden menus called CPU configuration and Overclocking performance control that I want to unlock.

First I extracted the BIOS rom using Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0 and got a rom file.  Now this ROM file can easily be edited in AMIBCP 5.0.1 to either change settings directly (enable turbo TDP) or to unlock hidden BIOS menus (CPU config and overclocking), and I have done that already.  The problem is, I'm not sure if this is then safe to flash, and I don't know how to flash it. The file I partially edited (just changed a cpu setting to test, didn't unlock menus) is here

The other method is to unpack the bios update EXE utility from dell (found here), modify and repack.  I unpacked it using phoenix tool 256 and got a dump, but I'm not sure how to modify it or repack it.  A user on another forum extracted a slightly older version of the bios and got these files, which might be easier to work with.

I also have some idea of where in the bios the menu control is and where to edit that in an IFR extractor (and have those files) but don't really know what I'm doing yet.

If someone can either help directly or give any direction I'd be very grateful.  If it's possible and safe to flash the output ROM file from AMIBCP then I just need to know how, if one of the other methods then I need more help.  I'm willing to donate for this and I have spoken to other XPS 13 users who could as well.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Adding menu screenshot shortly.

Your bios chip is rewrite protected
Bios mod can be flashed using SPI-programmer+SOIC8 clip only

It should be possible to modify the bios in the EXE file and repackage.  I unpacked and repackaged the bios (it can be edited in AMIBCP 5.0.1) and it was (I think) still able to install.  I wasn't sure how to continue from there.  Also might be possible to hex edit the unpackaged EXE from the universal IFR extracter, but I didn't know where to edit.

I will add another $25 to this bounty.
