No, they are different.

Anybody ever succeeded in this? Seems that the official microcode update utility is sp51243.exe. Some ppl reported success with E7x00 but it breaks ACPI and SpeedStep so it has to be set manually via some windblows app. But this is 45nm part, I would be glad for Q6600 support with which it should not really have a problem.

Did you tried to boot with E7x00 or Q6600?

So far I've just fired the machine up to check whether it lives at all, there are some bad caps so I'll do complete recap. So just poking for options, but it has Q965 which officially supports Q6600. Got few of the machines and Q6600 would definitelly be better than E6700 (oficial max). Besides, I have Q6600 on stock, but not E6700s Big Grin

From what I've checked, ppl were stuck on the 1802 error.

BTW, why does the forums force some mobile-crap theme on me in Opera 12.18?

1802 error can't be solved.

So no reliable support than?

If CPU can boot without 1802 error, then you can update microcode for it.

Well we know that the Q6600 shows 1802. Or could it be skipped and continued on booting? Newer machines usually allow that with F1 or something like that.

No way.

At least that the 1801 could, it was complaining about E4500 microcode too. There was still some system on the drive so I managed to upgrade to v3.07 BIOS which made it go away.

BTW they have new version of the BIOS utility pack. It includes new tool to change POST image. Expected new BIOS ROM image? Try again, changing picture is so much more important!  Huh
