Request - Help w/ HP 17-2002tx
#1
Hi,

Hopefully this is the right place (first time here), but I'm having a problem with a notebook. Specifically, a HP Envy17 / 17-2002tx.

It is giving the double-flash caps lock indicating bios failure. The instructions on the HP support web site do not execute properly on any other Windows machine I have access to. The recovery tool (indicated on the page here - https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/ ) doesn't give me a filename (or perhaps I'm not understanding where to find it).

I've tried leaving the default HP supplied name, tried bios.bin, etc - no luck. The computer reads the USB stick, but doesn't go further nor beep.

The official bios I'm trying to recover can be downloaded from HP here; http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59847.exe ( if that link doesn't work, here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/sel...el/5071116 )

Any help would be massively appreciated. It was a fairly expensive laptop ~_~;

As far as I know, the laptop is in otherwise good shape. I'm aware my first post is 'omghelpmeplz', sorry about that D:

Hello, try this steps:
Download HP BIOS Update UEFI, run, next, accept, unpack to C:\swsetup\sp52264. Next, then choose - USB Drive, insert FAT formatted drive, next, install, yes for rename volume name, finish. Run HP Notebook System BIOS Update (sp59847.exe), next, error - Ok, error - Ok. Now, copy files from c:\swsetup\SP59847\ to USB Drive:\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New\

Hi,

It did the same thing. It reads the drive for a few seconds, then resumes its 2 led blink pattern.

Any messages in files - drive:/HEWLETT-PACKARD/BiosUpdate/HpBiosUpdate.log and drive:/HpBiosUpdate.log ?

That file doesn't exist in either location. I take it that means the laptop isn't even trying to restore itself?

I don't know, should be needed press combination key or not compatible formatting usb drive.
But try this (from download page,section Utility-tools), it contain more fresh files in \Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate\
