[Solved] unblock CPU for QX-9650 & E8400
#1
Attached my motherboard GA-965P-DS4 (2.0) info & current BIOS (F12).
According to manufacture's CPU Supporting List:
It can support QX-9650's C0 & E8400's C0 CPUs
but can not support QX-9650's C1 & E9400's E0 CPUs.
Can it be modified by this BIOS to support these 2 CPUs ?

Did you tried to boot with these new CPUs? What was the result?

Not yet.
Because Gigabyte's website emphasis that only certain version of CPUs are supported in this BIOS, I like to unblock this restriction at first.
Otherwise I expect no POST on booting if the CPU is not detected correctly.

Come back with results.
After new CPU QX9650 was replaced, no beep or POST showing during booting.
The CPU's fan turn on for a while then stop by itself.
That means CPU was not correctly recognized I think.
After clear CMOS, POST appeared but it'll shutdown before I can edit it.

I need a photo of the screen with POST-errors in this case.

No any POST error, only Gigabyte SPLASH screen showing for 1 or 2 sec then automatic shutdown !

Can you disable "Gigabyte SPLASH screen" in BIOS (on your old CPU)?

Yes on my old CPU E6600, SPLASH screen can be disabled.
But due to over-heat problem the PC will shutdown about 1~ 2 sec later before I can edit anything in BIOS.

So I can't help you without knowledge of POST-error messages with new CPU.
