[HELP] Recovering broken BIOS of a HP PAvilion DV6 6c80el
#1
Hi, for error i flashed the bios of my HP Pavilion DV6 6c80el with this file:
sp55454_UlkMenus_ByCamiloml.exe
and before of that i flashed it with the last HP Update: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57474.exe

(I extracted from it the file that i think is the BIOS ROM that is called 017FC.bin)

Now when i power it on, after about 40 seconds teh caps lock led start lighting 2 times with a pause, that is the segnal for BIOS corruption. The official HP docmentation with the HP_TOOLS recovery partition isn't working.

I've tried several ways to recover it, but nothing worked.

Quote:Label of media: HP_TOOLS

Path: \Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current

In order to initiate this BIOS recovery, "Window Key + B" must be pressed during powering on the system. BIOS recovery can be manually forced by pressing and holding the 4 arrow keys and pressing the power button.

Try this with USB stick FAT32:

Download from HP your bios update Then extract file from ROM package, rename Rom.bin and .sig according to your number of bios - you can find them in ver.txt

Put files like this on USB
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\YOURNUMBER.BIN
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\YOURNUMBER.SIG
SMC.BIN
Important a second copy of the .BIN file must be renamed to SMC.BIN and placed to root of the stick.

Start Laptop and press Windows key + B (about 3-5sec)
When you see that something read data from USB release keys
(it's all about feeling when you need let off this keys, so probably you need to try several times)

After 1-2 minute laptop will restart and you get error (press enter)
From this step further is all easy (your OS is booting )

This is the method i tried, but i don't have ani sig files.

Also it seems that the laptop doesn't even reads the usb key.

Sigh that's my new laptop, it has less than one month, please help!

Thanks in advance.
