AMIUCP utility for Dell E6510
#1
I have looked all over and cannot seem to find AMIUCP utility  for Dell E6510 to extract .hdr file. Please if anyone knows about its existence here- or elsewhere, let me know. Much appreciated

Here is extracted A17 BIOS, AMIUCP could be found in google easy but it's not used to create this BIOS so other extraction methods are required

Thank you!
This is the problem I have. I have a Dell E6510 with BOS password locked. The last digits generated are 1F5A
there is no online software to work with 1F5A . I read somewhere that if I can create .hdr file from the BIOS and downgrade to A03 or similar I can perhaps have the code changed to 27AB which can be decoded online.

This BIOS does not run -writehdrfile command. It cannot create this file- perhaps it is UEFI, and Dell changed since then-

That's why I needed this AMIUCP program to extract .hdr file. I have googled tirelessly but alas no AMIUCP can be found. Even at this website it is not available.

Would you have an extracted lower BIOS level file? A03 or something closer? Does this A17 show hdr files?

I know all this in theory for now, so not sure if this is a workable solution?

Thanks for your help

I included the HDR file for you, as well as AMIUCP, in the file above. Do you need A03 instead? If yes, it is still listed on Dell site? If not, please upload, if it's listed let me know and I will go back to their site and get the HDR for you. I went back to Dell site to get this for you, but they only have P02, A10, and A17 BIOS
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/...10/drivers

Do you want HDR from P02?

I don't know about getting around BIOS password how you mentioned, but I do know flash programmer (CH341A) will work and those only cost $2.50-3.00, you also will need SOIC8 test clip cable.

Thank you so much for providing the files. It turns out that AMIUCP cannot read this particular BIOS- so gave up on that. This information about 1F5A bios password removal was coming from below link
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39471

Alos tried with the .hdr file you have kindly provided, found out that each .hdr needs a specific name to work. Not sure and do not know how to find out that naming info

Dell older Bioses show up when googled by their version number
E6510 AO3
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/...id=r271137

at this page by entering Dell- and other- code generated at the E6510 when trying to access locked BIOS-
a password is generated that unlocks the BIOS
https://bios-pw.org/

But 1F5A is not working-
there are some folks who have it figured out for 1F5A but not sharing their unlock method- They are at ebay and some other website- selling it from $5 to $20 per machine

Dogbert is the legend who has it all started
http://dogber1.blogspot.com/2009/05/tabl...-bios.html

If you can please get .hdr file from A03 and let me access it I would really appreciate it. How to name it correctly I still cannot figure out. Perhaps more googling will get me there. Or if you have any insights to it please share

the method using programmer and clip sounds good but can this be done for a Dell? i have not been able to find any detailed instruction - how to go about it- find on the net- If you can provide more details I would really appreciate. I have used similar method for removing SVP passwords from Lenovo notebooks- and it works for Lenovo

I cannot thank you enough for giving your time and attention to this little problem of mine    Angel

Kind regards

I told you that in my first reply. It's not that AMIUCP cannot read this BIOS, it's due to AMIUCP was not used to create this BIOS

I am not sure about getting that HDR name either, I tried a few things I thought might give a recovery name but no luck. Did you try the exe name?

Here is the A03 HDR + all other extracted files using another method.
https://www.sendspace.com/file/kc63pq

Yes, programmer can be used for any BIOS. In this case, since password is the issue, what you would do is first create a dump so you can access the board details later (asset tag, service tag, lan mac etc) Make sure it's verified. Then you would find another online (working) dump of the exact same system, edit it with your systems details and then program it to the board instead.

Sorry, I don't know much about password, other than get around it with programmer. You can probably find an answer here somewhere though, probably find the HDR/Name answer here too.

There exists the tool to remove 1F5A BIOS password but could not find it for free , like the one below where most of the Dell BIOS passwords can be removed but not the one ending in 1F5A

https://bios-pw.org/

at ebay there is a guy doing it for $5 - that's how I got rid of it, , I was skeptical at first but it worked

If E6400 has 1F5A password, that can be done for free by downgrading the BIOS by creating an .hdr file first. Then the 1F5A will change to something that can be removed by using the above -link- tool.
Unfortunately, for E6510,  .hdr creating command does not work.  Perhaps because it is UEFI bios too. And the other created .hdr files are not recognized by the system.

So out there someone has created the tool but not shared yet as in above link-

I hope it helps someone looking for an answer to this 1F5A problem.
