Hi!
I have an ASUS P4S8X-X socket 478 motherboard that have an Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz with the newest 1005.001 beta bios dated 2003/12/02 (https://www.asus.com/supportonly/P4S8X-X/HelpDesk_BIOS/). Now the problem is that the motherboard dont have official support for the cpu (Only up to 3.06 GHZ Pentium 4) but it clocks down the cpu to 2.13 ghz. And POST says invaild CPUID but it still continues to boot and Windows works normaly. But if i try to open an monitor program that captures info from the cpu the PC halts and restart.
Now i want to upgrade the cpucode in the bios so it supports the 3.2 GHZ Pentium 4. I have the cpucode for it, but its easier said than done to edit the bios.
The file you get when downloading bios update is an 001 file which if you extract, you will get an SYSTEM.ROM file. I have tried open those files with Phoenix BIOS Editor but it doesn't work.
Regards
