Btw I have managed to get 10.12.4 Sierra on the ssd (upgraded the 32gb to 256gb) using this guide:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide...fi.172859/

Only issue I keep facing is that once everything has been patched, OSX simply won't boot. Turning GPU acceleration off and booting from clover efi on usb boots fine but OS is very slow. I'm guessing that 10.11 El Capitan is probably more stable to run so will try to install that next instead of Sierra & hope to get GPU acceleration working. Probably reinstalled sierra at least 7 times now so yeah its definitely a time consuming process.

The only luck I have is that mine already has a 512GB M2 SSD. Besides that, they replaced everything inside except the SSD, coolers, touchpad and bottom plate. Even the display like 4 times, and the touch is still broken)
You can find a lot of info on some sites, including the GPU:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide...fi.144351/

But a few models higher also can help us further.

So I managed to install OSX El Capitan with everything (apart from touch) perfectly working!
It was quite simply and easy to install tbh with almost no issues at all. Only waiting for the Broadcom Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Card to arrive to confirm that wireless works too, for now connected using usb to ethernet adapter.
I installed clover first using the guide on the EFI partition then installed OSX Installer using DiskMaker X6, then later patched everything.

I went through the same thing with my display being replaced 3 times now and seems to be working fine now (fingers crossed)
Will update if there is any other issues and if Wireless works with Broadcom once it arrives.

Hello again,
I finally (5 months later..) found some time to work on it.. The G5 is completely useless. btw. I had to use a virtual machine..
Now running Siera, but still have to do the driver / patching work since it failed the first 10 times Smile.
(The problems were I didn't install xcode, only the command line tools => i downloaded the files as zip instead of using xcode and the "git clone" command and the --dsdt-update didn't work because i had no connection.. ). Now i did the decompile and compile on the VM, so i can finish it this evening.
If you have problems in the future with the touch or usb ports, just disconnect the touchpanel and all issues are gone (in my case).
I'm trying t get wireless trough a small usb device for now. (chinese ralink RL5370). Should work.
I completely followed this guide: https://github.com/the-darkvoid/XPS9530-OSX. That guy also updated the scripts for high siera.

Bumping, I successfully flashed the A09mod.rom BIOS and had a look through all the settings but am still unable to find the one I need.

I've disabled all thermal protection options (temporarily) to try and allow the GPU to operate at temps above 80 degrees C (throttling temperature) but I have not been successful in finding the correct setting to change. I've tried both modifying temperature points and turning DPTF off completely but none of the settings affect the 80 degree limit. I just downloaded UEFI tools to try and sift through the rom but I have little experience with it and I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for.

It seems the VBIOS is not extractable using GPU-Z so am I correct in assuming it's integral to the main BIOS and therefore not separately tunable?

Thanks!
