Hi!
I think that you can search already prepared unlocked bios in this place:  https://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?dir=Insyde%2F

Hi,
I was checked the link before but in another topic I saw that the bios made by Camiloml had a Checksum issue and I don't know whether the problem has been fixed in the version provided in this link or not. That's why I didnt try it.

P.S. I know that the moded bios made by Donovan6000 is working properly but I could not find any links to download it and all links I'd found here has been expired.

As soon as my battery level drops to 10%, display gets dimmed after a few secs and - even worse - CPU frequency is set to smallest possible value. This must be caused by firmware since it happens regardless of OS power management settings, but there is no option in firmware setup to disable this.

So it would be nice if you could unlock the Advanced tab, hoping that it can be disabled there.

Acer TravelMate B117-M/Lepus_BA
-BIOS type: Insyde H2O
-BIOS version: V1.23 05/16/2018
-Link: >click<

Thank you very much in advance!

EDIT: Sorry, of course I don't want to have the Advanced tab unlocked; I would like to have a list of settings that cannot be changed via setup menu, but via setup_var.

Is it too late for me to put in a request? I have the following:

Well, I tried it on my own, following Falseclock's tutorial.

PhoenixTool processed isflash.bin from the linked BIOS (v1.23) flawlessly, but Falseclock's Perl script fails at processing FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_1262.ROM: EFI_HII_PACKAGES() returns an empty array.

I also tried it with isflash.bin from v1.13, which I can use as well as v1.23, but same result.

At first, I wasn't able to dump by BIOS; I tried the platform.ini method and invoking flasher executable with -g switch, both with H2OFFT-Wx64.exe under Windows 7 and with H2OFFT-Sx64.efi in UEFI shell. Using the efi executable with -g switch gave me "Error: IHISI 14h failed. Internal Error Code 0x24. FBTS: Read bios failed".

Then I tried Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0. Since it stated it couldn't recognise my BIOS, I tried it with size 4096K, and it succeeded. I ran PhoenixTool with that image, which succeeded too, but FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_1262.ROM obtained this way is identical to that I got from isflash.bin.

What I got from PhoenixTool can be downloaded here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Universal IFR Extractor succeeded in processing FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_1262.ROM. But before changing the value of a variable, I tried to read some, and this doesn't work: I downloaded newest UEFI shell from tianocore/edk2 project, but it doesn't have setup_var command, merely setvar, and when using this, I get an error message stating the variable doesn't exist. I can't use BOOTX64.efi from Falseclock's posts; my machine freezes when I run it.

Could anyone help me with that issue?

EDIT: I got it; the "variable" is just an offset inside the value of "Setup" UEFI variable.

Using RU.efi, I looked up the values of some inaccessible settings, and they matched the default values from IFR file. But I can't change anything. RU.efi and Linux efivarfs interface both fail when trying to write to "Setup" UEFI variable.

For the time being, I'll let it go at that.

hello people Smile i'm new here. and i have a problem. i have a dell xps l421x laptop. it has some issues leftover unfixed (and refuses to fix them on purpose?) by dell as described by me here:

https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/L421X...-p/7189835

first and most important issue is that this laptop has some "dynamic contrast" thingie or as dell calls it "Dell battery-saver" built-in which is active everywhere (even in the bios itself) - when computer is on battery screen gets brighter when there's more white / bright content and gets darker when it has more dark / black content on screen. it is actually screen backlight auto adjusting. it's a bug and it should be vice versa imo if we're about saving energy. when the ac adapter is connected everything becomes normal and screen brightness stays intact. At first i thought it was an intel driver problem as intel has some similar technology called intel display power saving technology (dpst). but then i noticed that this is happening everywhere not only when windows is loaded. newer xps model got a fix (which might give some idea of what to look for in bios settings?) for as i understand this same or similar problem (https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/...erId=8GDDH) but not this older l421x. some xps owners report having this setting in their bios (https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/7..._december/) so i am curious if maybe any of you could help me out here? i honestly believe it's in bios and not the display itself cause if power cord is plugged in everything becomes normal. aand another issue is that since bios version a16 sata performance went from 6gbps to 3gbps for no reason. theres now a18 bios which has spectre fixes but these two issues are still there.

links to bioses:

https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0191545...1XA16W.exe
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0497636...1XA18W.exe

i would be really glad if anyone is willing to investigate this Smile if i cannot find a way to fix this i will sell this laptop and if i get it fixed i will keep it forever Big Grin

I have extracted IFR data from your BIOSes A15 and A18. If you have found a setting you would like to change, I will give you further instructions.
