[REQUEST] Bios Mod for MS-7728 2.0 OEM Medion PC
#11
(02-25-2018, 11:30 AM)MediScarp Wrote: I am desperate, I bough new GPU in hope that I can boost my PC.
After it came, I realized that Medion is blacklisting newer GPUs...
Searched many forums, manually translated german ones but no help there.

Can anyone please show me how to unlock this bios so I can use my R9 270x?

Oficial bios download is here:
http://cdn.medion.com/downloads/treiber/bio7728.exe

I downloaded AMIBCP software but I have no idea what should I edit...

Can anyone save me and maybe post already edited bios file with some instructions?  Sad

Yes, you have to use AFUDOS v3.03.00 Aptio, see attachment :

I need some help, i bougth new products for my computer.
Recently I bought a new graphic card (XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS 8GB ) for my old computer with a MS-7728 motherboard.
When I instaled the new GPU no signal is sent to the screen, for any of the ports (DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort). I tried to resolve the problem and I found that this motherboard is blocked by the manufaturer.

I downloaded the AMIBCP 4.53 tool and I opened the E7728MLN.209 file to unlocked the PCIe port for the new GPU but I cannot find the option that I have to change

Could you help me?

Thank you!

Hi all,

I've got a bit of an issue getting my GFX card to talk to my Medion PC. I have searched extensively before posting anything, but can't seem to find the problem.

First some system info:

Medion Akoya P5330 D (MD 8805)
MS-7728 2.0 main board
i5-2320
8GB Kingston RAM (4 installed for now)
Corsair GS700 PSU

The BIOS is version 2.09 (modified by myself) and I'm trying to get an ASUS EAH6990 3DI4S/4GD5 (Radeon HD6990 4GB DDR5) to work.

I've tested a number of things to find the fault;

The card works in another system (old AMD Athlon dual core with mentioned GS700 PSU) so the card and power are fine. Other cards work in the Medion (GeForce GT220/Radeon HD4650), so the PCIe slot of the MS-7728 is fine. According to the information I found the main board should be able to handle the card, they are from the same 'era' so they should speak the same language.

I have tinkered a bit with the BIOS, I have access to any feature I like so it should be fully unlocked. But I just can't get the system to boot with the HD6990 mounted, only BIOS beep code 1 long 2 short (Failure in video system: a checksum error was encountered in video BIOS ROM, or a horizontal retrace failure has been encountered). The card is fully seated in the PCIe slot and both 8pin power connectors are inserted (card fan spins up on power on).

I have tried numerous settings in reference to PCIe, but none seem to work. I am however 'missing' features I know from other BIOSes, like safe boot. I can find a 'legacy' option under PCI, but it's not on the boot options page like I'm used to. I somehow doubt it is the issue, for the GFX supports EFI according to ASUS docs.

I wonder if I'm missing something, any help on BIOS settings for AMI APTIO4 in general are very much appreciated.

Any info I can think of, which might be of use:

I flashed the BIOS from Windows 7 with afuwin, modified it with amibcp 4.53, there is no onboard GPU installed (processor might support it, but no physical connectors present), not 100% sure what size BIOS chip it has (used 2MB flash files to be safe) and I'd be hesitant to whip out a soldering iron just yet Wink ..

I'm doing this to save money, so spending a lot is not an option. I might consider buying a comparable or slightly better 'generic' main board if the price is right (any tips on this are also welcome). The Medion and the HD6990 were donated, I don't even have money to buy something so out-dated (ask my ex wife why). Any help would be appreciated, and I would like to learn from this, so feel free to elaborate on any information you might have. I tend to want to know what I'm doing and how it all works  Smile

Yours,

SFC76

Since no one seems to reply (because this is an old thread (or me high-jacking it a tad)), I have just a quick question:

Is it simply because the H61 chipset on this mobo does not support Crossfire Multi-GPU? (it's a bit unclear when Google presents 5 different options about this chipset)

If so, a second question arises; According to the info I found, the P75 chipset does support it, is that correct? (I might be able to get a refurb for $40, which is quite a lot in my current situation..hence my plea for confirmation before I buy)

Thanks for any relevant information,

SFC

Thanks for this wonderful post.

However, I have E7728MLN.30G BIOS version (BIOS tag 1APTC018) and it looks much more complex than the one you described. And unfortunately, the PCI ROM priority option doesn't even appear under the PCI Subsystem Settings.

I got the bios version E7728MLN.209 from the first post of this chat and modified it according to your suggestion. When I tried to overwrite my actual BIOS it warned me that the BIOS I was about to write had 2k size while the older had 3k. I decided to abort.

Do you think it is safe to proceed? Any suggestion?
