says FSBS 800/1066/1333 MHz....
Would appreciate any advice...
Mine is HP A6641ES, i have not been able to overcclock although finally due to our mates i managed get a proper setfsb app, however only reaching 3,4ghz that doesn't make any sense for me...
X5472 is lower speed and bus is 1600 as you said, so NO compatible with your motherboard, or if working it will work at less speed as in your board only will reach 1333mhz bus
do not buy x5472 for our board, the wait it worths
Thanks for the reply!
I'm reconsidering putting a xeon in this altogether since I don't feel too confident about how much this old board can handle. I'm looking at a e8400 for safety reasons mostly and since I don't plan on doing any heavy gaming on this. Some guy is selling one locally for $15 maybe I can get it for $10.
I am sorry to tell you, that if you don't get the xeon you will regret about it, there's a lot of power in these chips and i can tell you temperatures are no so high although 120w tdp, i have the cpu inside a cupboard opened in the front, with a radeon hd 7850 (which handles more watts via additional pci power connector), a replaced PSU (500w instead 300w from original), and a big cooler which keeps cpu fresh, (Artic cooler freezer extreme v2.0), and computer works perfect and doesn't make loud noises.
CPU goes from 6x multiplier (2ghz) to 10x (3,33ghz) and only when continued for a long while on 3,33ghz, the cpu fan speeds up from 848rpm to 1450rpm aprox, so still not disturbing

You are tempting me like the devil
It would be very cheap to give this thing a bit of power no doubt!....I'm concerned with the ddr2 ram slots of up to 8 gigs, isn't that way too little for these days? I mean is there a way to improve it ?

i am not quite sure but our mates above said with latest updates maybe the board would be able to get 4gb ram per slot instead 2, i have now 8gb ddr2 and i am quite sure i'll have enough for my purposes, next computer will be in 4-6 year for sure, no more power or improvement required for the moment

That's so cool to be able to modify an old hp and have it perform well a decade later. I'm new to this pc hardware stuff and its so interesting what you can do...I'm sure it gets very frustrating at times too though lol.
I think I will put a xeon on this and put a graphics card in it ...maybe an rx 570....you think it will be ok when I upgrade the psu to a 500W ?

rx 570 will be fine with a 500w psu, but ensure it has 8pin pci power conector.

Thanks for the heads up, very much appreciated!

Next step i will perform on this board, i have a Radeon HD 7850 and i've bought a supposed damaged HD 7870 (slightly higher cpu/mem speed), so i will try solve the damages on last one, if this finally worked, i will try (just curious) about crossfire in a board with a single X16 pcie... using an adapter to use the full pci slot, or any of these 2 option
Opening rest of PCI slot on the right
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cfq2uTCGZts
Cutting PCI raiser from the card
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dvxcnfx3Bm0
if the hd 7870 finally worked, i will post here results and if crossfire able working
