Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Li2735 - Phoenix Bios
#1
Question
Hi all ! My name is Marius and i own an fujitsu-siemens amilo series, an old one that i enjoyed over the years. I've modified everything i could to this laptop, I've bought a new CPU, Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz , I've installed an SSD drive instead of the old one, I've modded the cooling unit, upgraded to the maximum amount of RAM memory that is 4gb.
My new CPU supports virtualization (VT-x) but my Phoenix bios has the option to turn this feature on an off hidden.
I've upgraded the bios to the latest version witch is V1.10 but still i can't see any option about virtualization.
I've uploaded as an attachment to this post my untouched bios in all the forms(archive, iso, winflash, wph, etc) that i've found on the fujitsu support site. -
.zip   BiosAmiloLi2735.zip (Size: 4.6 MB / Downloads: 38)
I've tried myself to open the wph file with Phoenix Bios Editor Pro but i always receive an message that i the rom has an invalid size.
If someone here can help i will be very grateful and i will appreciate it very much i'l even make some donation.
Thank you for your time and patience to read this post.

Hello cmariusadrian,

I will take a look at your BIOS image to see what can be unlocked.

Sorry for the long response time, I have been busy with school.

Hello cmariusadrian,

The BIOS mod is complete! The modified BIOS image archive can be found at the bottom of this post.

I have unlocked the VT-x setting under the Advanced Menu.

Generic Warnings/Disclaimers:
Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the BIOS image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that [if applicable] your notebook is fully charged (100%), that the power adapter is properly connected, and that the chance of a power outage occurring is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is good practice to have a working CRISIS recovery disk handy when flashing your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result or consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results of the BIOS flash!

Thank you very much i will try it once i get home and I will post the results. Also I will make the donation. Once again thank you very much for your help and time I understand how difficult is to modify this kind of operating systems.

I've successfully flashed the bios image. Everything works normal and now I have the option to enable virtualization.
Thank you for your patience and work Steven.
I've made the donation as I promised and I think all the users of this forum that are getting an mod, unlock, whitelist etc should donate. This kind of work is not easy and the most important thing is that you cannot obtain this kind of modifications from your hardware manufacturers.
Once again thank you Steven, i will come back with pictures from my bios once i get home from work.

Hi Marius, I've also got a couple of Li27xx series laptops, and I'd love to know how you modded the cooling. I have a T7500 2.2GHz in the Li2727 and it constantly overheats and shuts off unless I pull the freq down considerably. I'm unsure whether this is a problem with the particular laptop, or whether it's just too much for the standard cooling system. I'd like to try the same cpu in my 2735, but I'm a little wary of damaging it as well. Any advice from your experience would be greatly received. I'm running Linux Mint 18.3 XFCE on the 2735, and dual booting the same with Win10 on the 2727. Overheating problem appears on both Win10 and Mint.

Hello Sml6397,

Sorry to bring back to life this very old post, but I'm interested too much in unlock some hidden bios option on an amilo li 2735...
do you think it could be possible to disable the internal screen interface through the bios (the laptop has a external vga output) ?
only option available for screens are "both" or "disable", as i took the laptop motherboard out from its case (overheating due to the death of the CPU/GPU fan, screen broke since many years), i would like to totally disable the internal screen port to be sure that the poor intel graphic chips works only for the vga output (in windows 10, i still have to disab/le the internal display, and uninstalling it in the device manager isn't working).
if having a setting like that, plus a dedicated memory to gpu (64/128/256/512mo)option could be possible, i think i would really offer a cpu upgrade to this ex-laptop and a donation to you !! Big Grin

however, many thanks for your work here !

Hello ThAnEb,

I can check in the BIOS image for those options. It is possible that the option to disable just the laptop screen exists but is hidden from the user. In this case, I can simply unhide the option. The GPU setting likely exists, but it does not always work even when unlocked.

I will take a look at your BIOS image to see what I can do.
