[UnLock] HP Pavillion DV6500 Intel MB:Quanta 30D2 BIOS:Phoenix F.5A
#1
Question
Hi, thank you for all your work. I have searched everywhere but there are no modified Bios Version for my Laptop with Intel CPU.
I've tried to do it by myself (I have a basic knowledge fro HEX editing, tracing and so on), but I don't have so much time to learn all related things about BIOS MODS (maybe later on...). I've succseful extracted the BIOS and begin the trace, but I give up mainly for a matter of time.

So I'm here to ask (very rare thing) if someone could do it or me. I'm not in hurry, only planning to upgrade to the latest CPU that my Laptop can mount (Intel T9500, already supported I think) and mainly to "play" with advanced stuff like multiplier/FSB ratio settings for CPU/RAM.

SPECS DATA :
HP Pavillion DV 6500 (DV6650EL)

BIOS :
Phoenix F.5A

MOTHERBOARD :
Quanta 30D2 79.2E
Chipset : Intel PM965

Below all files need, a backup of my current BIOS and the same Bios extracted from the Hp download page
HP DOWNLOAD PAGE
ALTERNATIVE DOWNLOAD (ONLY PURE BIOS WPH AND BAK)

Thank you a lot!
Hope that can be useful for others people when done.

As usually ... I don't resist and never give up. So I've studied something, found a great article and tried it out! Big Grin

Let's show some result of back tracing. This is what I've found until now in my Bios.

Hello mast3rf0x,

It appears that there is very limited space for adding hidden menus and settings in this BIOS image due to the small size of the area before the $PDW entry in the TEMPLAT module and the lack of a pre-built menu structure. This can sometimes be worked around, however.

What software did you use to highlight the hex data in different colors?

Hi Thank you for your support.
I've found all inetresting menus with a "simple brute force understanding". I've discovered "how" begin each call, and tried them all.
The 2th post is updated.

Already do some modification and flashing, and the Bios works without problems. It was easy and funny.

For the Highlight I used "The Gimp" Photo editor, to better understanding (Img selection). But now I can keep track of the entire bios without colors, I have all in mind Big Grin
UPDATE : I've do some search, and "wxHexEditor" have the ability to Highlight (tags), import and Export Tags, in a simple way, but enough to understand.

Thank you for your support. Now I'm working for a better menu configuration, to add hidden menu by type.
Tomorrow I will post a screenshoot of resulting menu.

If you have some suggestion, I would be glad to know.

Sorry for my English, I'm Italian.

Hello there,

I'd like to request a BIOS unlock for my HP dv6680ec. As I've got some throttling issues, I want to mess with the BIOs settings, but since the original doesn't let me do that, I'd need an unlocked version.

Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
Intel® Core 2 Duo T5250 (1.5Ghz dual core)
2048 MB DDR2 (333 mhz)
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (128 MB, 400mhz memory + core, 800mhz shader)

There's that BIOS: https://drive.google.com/file/d/163uEIlG...B_zpZ/view

Thanks <3

Hi Sml6397,

do you think that it's possible to activate only the feature of the SATA controller to have the ability to swith to AHCI mode?
Can the White list be added too on this bios or is it complicate?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hello BC,

I will take another look at the BIOS image. This may take me a few days as I have a lot going on at school right now.

Hello Steven,

Have you try to see something more in that bios?
Have you be able to perform this modification?

Thanks and regards
