Acer M3970 / AMI support for 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge i7-3770
#31
1. Use Rufus to make DOS USB stick.
2. Download Intel ME System Tools v8 r3
3. Copy all files from folder \Intel ME System Tools v8 r3\FWUpdate\Local-DOS\ to DOS USB stick.
4. Download and unzip file Intel ME Firmware v8.1.70.1590 (1.5MB).rar
5. Rename file 8.1.70.1590_1.5MB_PRD_RGN.bin to ME.bin and copy DOS USB stick.
6. Change ME UPDATE jumper to Enabled position.
7. Boot from DOS USB stick and run:
FWUpdLcl -f ME.bin
8. Make a photo of result.
9. Turn off computer by power button and unplug power cord.
10. Change ME UPDATE jumper to Disabled position.
11. Wait for a minute and try to start.

Will try in the morning.  Are one of these the "ME UPDATE" jumpers?  Left one says FLASH_OVERRIDE, top right BIOS WP??  Directly below is CMOS reset which is the only jumper setting I'm sure of.

Is it with modded BIOS?
Did you change FLASH_OVERRIDE position?

Yes, with modded bios.  Board has everything removed from it other than essentials (hdmi to monitor on onboard display output, keyboard, mouse, and usb stick).  Tried it w/ the flash_override in both positions.

There is only 2 files on the stick for the flash is that enough?  The FWUPDCL executable and the BIN file. I put them in a separate directory/folder than the DOS files.  There are no other driver files associated with the flash?

3. Copy all files from folder \Intel ME System Tools v8 r3\FWUpdate\Local-DOS\ to DOS USB stick.

There is only 1 file, the executable.

Try do it from Windows command line with administrative rights.
Windows tool - \Intel ME System Tools v8 r3\FWUpdate\Local-Win\FWUpdLcl.exe
Also make a screenshot of MEInfo's results (\Intel ME System Tools v8 r3\MEInfo\Windows\MEInfoWin.exe)

Errors on both

MEInfo: https://i.imgur.com/Oo6pmXB.jpg

Also just put back in the i7 and tried the ME commands, same error prompts.  Put in a different GPU as well to try and same thing, no boot just black screen and flashing _.

Try to reflash modded BIOS by FPT(Flash Programming Tool).
