Thinkpad t430 mobo mod GPU
#1
Heart
Hi, i'm new in this forum and i'd like to obtain some answer from people like you.
My laptop t430 is a 2347G7G and bios version 2.79
(i never flash my bios with mod. my only experience with other t430 is write te ec controller for remap the keyboard with an old one)

Now, i'd like to try something different. and i'd like to do in this forum.
my laptop is modded with: 3840qm,nvs5400m 1gb ,dell display, 16gb ram (corsair), 3g ericson, 6300N, 500gb 850evo, 2tb on drive bay.
after deep research i find different ic. for vram.
I love my laptop and id like to upgrade for the last time. my first goals is upgrade the vram from the actual version: from 1gb to 2gb
DDR3 samsung 64x16 96balls K4B1G1646G-BC11 (used bu lenovo)
an replace it with:
DDR3 SKhynix 128x16 96balls H5TQ2G63DFR11C (used by lenovo)

my question is: after resold this vram chip it was necessary mod the bios?

my after reasarch is this: FBGA
the actual chip is 5400nvs N13P-NS1 and after this i compare the socket and i find the gt940m in this variant N16s-GT-B-A2 and the dimension of the chip and the socket are the same.
now, i try to backup the bios of the  gpu but this isnt in UEFI, it was CSM. and im think its not possible to replace the chip without reflash the bios.
in terms of TDP the we are ok 35w rspect 33w. but the performance increase it was crazy for a laptop.
For who can help me, which is the step to do before i start to solder.
Personally the problem of soldering(reballing) its not a problem. i workt for years repairing smarthphone. but i never do something like this in terms of reprogramming the bios on a laptop.

Before of that, i want to tell you thank you for the opportunity to share this work with you. Thank who can help me. and apologize me for my bad english

ok, i set the motherbord on UEFI bios, removing CSM support and legacy, but in GPU-Z i can't dubp the bios of the GPU, i don't think its sufficent replace the gpu chip without reflash the bios of the gpu with another propertly, i think its necessary mod my bios 2.79 reporting a variant.
Theorically Nvidia optimus is supported by the new chip.
and theorically there isnt a black list for the gpu in t430, becouse in the past i try EXP-GDC external videocard with different type (like 780ti, 970,1060,980ti an work runs propertly exept for the newer driver) and all run propertly.
but i think there isn't the same thing. becouse an external gpu run by a propertrly bios. logically i think its necessary flash the motherboard for the right functionality.
reading in old thread flashing the thinkpad bios require an external devices.

For these reason I'd like to know your own opinion

Considering the situation and the fact of having to buy a programmer
id like mod my bios: including some mod:
-Remove whitelist for wifi and for wlan
-unlock the bios for enable advanced setting.
-Oem battery
anyone can help me? on the internet i find only a guide about the wifi. or in this site i found thread where people share their bios dump and someone repost by pm with a mod.
there is still someone who does these things?

during the night i'was thinking about the solution to increase the vram from 1gb to 2gb and i think its possible without reflash the bios, but changing the model number during a bios update.
This is because the bios developed by lenovo is compatipble with all the variants. and is the model number that defines the specifications within it. or am I wrong?

ok, for the moment i recive N16s-GT-B-A2 and after a deep look of the socket side by side all its equal. Now i'm waiting the rest of the parts including stencil and other things, like the vram and ec programmer.

- Disable Intel ME
- eGPU+16GB memory fix
- AES-NI Unlock
- Unlock C-State MSR (AES MSR 0xE2 & 0x194 )
- Advanced BIOS settings
- WLAN whitelisting
- HDD whitelisting
- Battery mod

Can someone please help me?

I have 16GB of RAM (2x8GB sticks). Boot won't progress past the splash screen if I have my GDC beast eGPU nvidia 980 TI (6GB) plugged in. Can this be fixed by changing the TOLUD through the advanced menu?
----
Looks like this was caused by booting in MBR instead of UEFI. Card is working in W10 but I can't get it working in Linux.

Also, the advanced menu does not have any option for TOLUD...
