[Request] ECS 761GXM-M add Phenom II CPU support
#1
Hello, dear forum users ! I need help or advice, since I'm not so advanced, so please do not be angry with me if I chose the wrong partition or did something wrong  Sad I recently ordered a processor from Aliexpress "Phenom II x4 955" my computer is equipped with an ECS 761GXM-M motherboard, AMI BIOS, I know this is an AM2 socket, but I read that processors with an AM2+ and AM3 socket can be installed and used in AM2 with some performance losses, I recently downloaded the MMTool program , opened the newest version of bios for my motherboard, and I saw only 4 lines with microcode in the "CPU PATCH" section, my current processor is "DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2600 MHz 5000+", but the new one has not arrived yet, but I am concerned about the fact..

The new processor that I ordered is not in the list of officially supported ones, and I'm afraid because of this that my computer may simply not boot with this processor..So I thought that perhaps this forum would help me by creating a mod by integrating the new microcode into bios, because I also heard about the existence of motherboards with the same socket that would officially support AM2+ and AM3 processors, such as second-generation Phenom.I understand that maybe I'm wasting your time, for which I apologize..Of course, I myself would look for a motherboard for donors, but I just don’t know by what criteria it should be done, again, sorry for not knowing Blush and sorry for my english, I just translate it through google

newest bios for my current motherboard(ROM file in the archive) :

Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with supported CPU.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with your Phenom II x4 955 CPU.

CPU -
Motherboard -
I'm sorry, maybe I'll disappoint you  Undecided but I created this topic because I was afraid that my computer might not turn on when installing this processor, I don’t have the processor on hand yet but it is ordered and is on the way and will be delivered in the next month, I just thought maybe you could to help me with advice or help about upgrading my current BIOS by integrating a new microcode, which would increase the chances of stable operation with a processor which is not officially supported  Blush I don’t know if I should contact if there is no processor yet, if not, please forgive me for worrying once again, I just wanted to prepare everything by the time the package with the processor is received,
and just because I'm scared that something will go wrong, I need your advice on this

Sorry, but unfortunately I don’t really know how to look for such information, or in any case I can’t find something similar on this chipset  Sad

I think you can't boot your motherboard with new CPU.
BTW: adding microcode doesn't add support for new CPUs.

But can I find out please why you think so? just amd made an announcement that the K10 microarchitecture processors could be installed and used on the AM2 socket, maybe I don’t know something or don’t understand?  Undecided

Thank you very much for the answer  Sleepy  even if the result is not very pleasant to understand, but the answer is honest, and this is the most important thing! When the package arrives with the processor, I still try to run this motherboard with it, and if you do not close the topic I will write about the final result
