The process is well-documented and very simple - no external programmer necessary.
Just did this on my X230 and didn't experience any trouble at all.
Hello,
I have made 2 similar projects:
https://github.com/dpolitis/auto-1vyprep/
Downgrades bios version for all xx30 to a version that is vulnerable to 1vyrain
https://github.com/dpolitis/auto-1vyrain/
Software flashes all xx30 (T430 only with winbond chip) the latest bios patched image (also eliminates 5 beeps bug, with TPM enabled), patches are visible in text.
Patches include: Whitelist, Advanced menu, Disable LVDS (only for x230 FHD mod by nitrocaster), Unlock MSR for overclocking and hackintosh support. Other patches are not applicable (at least on X230 and as far as I know - Thanks dudu2002).
The 2 projects build for you automatically the iso files to boot from a usb and perform flashing of a patched image WITHOUT a hardware programmer.
The bios files are downloaded from Lenovo and prepatched for you, during the build and you get no binary blobs. You can see the iso file build from the ground-up and you know what is included.
Many thanks to
n4ru (

Huge thanks go out to
gch1p (
https://github.com/gch1p/thinkpad-bios-s...hing-guide) for publishing the method used and
pgera (
https://github.com/hamishcoleman/thinkpa...-417903315) for the working commands, without them this would have not been possible.
Read README file carefully.
I hope I helped a lot of people.
Of course USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!! I will not be held responsible for anything that may happen to you or your hardware. You have been noted. If you do not understand what these projects do, please do not use it.
