[REQUEST] Support of Ivy Bridge for Intel DX79TO
#1
Would it be possible to update the microcode in the DX79TO, DX79SI and DX79SR bios to support Ivy Bridge -E processors?
Most other manufacturers support these processors in there x79 chipset boards.

If not how would I go along with updating this myself?

Almost forgot...
Here is a link to the bios for these boards.

Hey DeathBringer, the links that you had here for years no longer work... I recently got an Intel x79TO, so I was wondering if you still had that bios dump to support ivy bridge-e cpus on that motherboard. Kind regards

No way to add into original BIOS support for Ivy Bridge-E.
BTW: i7-3820 is Sandy Bridge-E

hey deathbringer - i have had a dx79si and i believe it shares the same bios as the dx79TO, and the dx79sr. here is a web archive link because as of 2019 you cannot download any of these bios directly from intel:

https://web.archive.org/web/201909021453...duct=55799

anyway i was wondering if you did mod the 650 bios (i believe this is the last version they released) so that we could use xeon processors - i know that in other x79 boards you could use xeon processors, such as the e5-1680 v2 and other ones as well.

is there any way i can get you to update this bios so that i can get a e5-1680 v2 and put it in this motherboard? if so that would be awesome. im guessing its possible just because other x79 boards can run the xeon cpu's

Read this thread attentively.

hey i see you are saying these boards cant support ivy bridge-e, and i guess the e5-1680 v2 is technically ivy bridge, i just didnt know if there was some way to get xeons to work or maybe there was some workaround. if these bios's cannot be modded to use these xeons then that sucks Sad

I said that you need to read attentively:

I have the dx79to firmware saved with the programmer in the .bin extension, maybe it can be somehow adapted to ivy br-e
