Acer Predator Helios 300 bios
#1
Hello All,

Recently I've decided to update BIOS for my Acer PH317-52776S laptop from version 1.19 to the latest version 1.26 . The reason is that sometimes the laptop shuts down under the high load. I did update of BIOS before from version 1 point something because release notes for this BIOS version stated that there are some NVMe drive improvements. Everything went smoothly during that update.

But this time the update was not finished successfully. I saw the progress bar of flashing process reached 100%. Then laptop went to blank screen. I waited for more then an hours and then restarted the laptop. Now I am able to enter BIOS setup but Linux start process often stops with kernel panic even from USB drive and windows does not start at all. I guess that update process was not completed properly for some reason.

I found that there is a recovery procedure which may help me to fix the issue with BIOS. But I still do not have all pieces to start recovery.

I would appreciate your help in getting answers on the following questions:
 1. BIOS archive contains 2 .fd files: DH53F_10.fd and DH53F_1A.fd. I was unable to find how to decide which one of them should be used to flash BIOS. Which one of those 2  .fd file contains the proper version of BIOS for my laptop?
 2. Also I didn't get the name that should be given to .fd file to start BIOS recovery procedure described in many sources. E.g. putting .fd file on USB flash drive with a proper name, pressing Fn+Esc during after the power button is pressed, etc. What is the correct name of .fd file that should be used to start BIOS recovery procedure?

Thanks,
Alx

Guys, I found an answers on my questions. Now my laptop works fine with BIOS v1.26

1. Larger file should be used. In my case it was DH53F_1A.fd
2. The name of the file should be DH53FX64.fd

Recovery procedure is standard. DH53FX64.fd should be put on USB flash drive formatted as FAT32. There should be only one file on USB flash drive. Connect USB flash drive, connect charger to your laptop, hold down Fn+Esc then press power button. Release Fn+Esc when you see that USB flash drive LED is blinking. Wait until laptop competes flashing BIOS. The laptop should shutdown at the end of the process. That's all.

Thanks,
Alx

Hi friend,
the Rwcovery Bios name file is DH53FX64.fd , You can get it using many tools.

DH53F_1A.fd and DH53F_10.fd have same model into :

V1.26
DH53F
05.23.03

So use the first one as "Alx_vv" user, rename it as DH53FX64.fd and follow the example ...

That's all.

With Insyde Bios only name is the problem, as the procedure it's the same for all laptops.
Let me know
Regards

P.S. We cannot make a Firmware Dump, so only the label on bottom can say something about your laptop and Firmware, if
You can upload a shot of it ...

Hey, greetings all. I'm having similar issues reflashing my bios.
I have the ph315-51 laptop so the bios is the same as everyone else's.
I'm following the exact proceeds, (correct name DH53FX64.fd, as well as putting it on my flash drive formatted in fat32 with that being the only file in it, and holding fn+ESC following by pressing the power button) but the fans a just spinning on high and it doesn't power off for itself. I've waited 20mins in between and I keep trying.
I've tried the 1A as well as the 10 file. Can anyone assist?

@Lizzo
Yes it seems that on new UEFI bios the Recovery Bios Procedure is not working more ...
so only the SPI Programmer CH341a and Pomona Climp can be used to recover the firmware.

thanks for the response, but not gonna lie..that was the most heart breaking news i've gotten all week.

Edit: i've attached a photo of what my bios looked like (minus hardware differences as my processor was the 8750h). are you sure thats the new version and it cant be recovered via usb?
