[REQUEST] HP Folio 13-1000 Series Whitelist Removal
#41

This is a good opportunity to check out the possibility of bios modifications for many folio 13s, but it's up to you. After the case with the first mod, I doubt anything will change, because from version to version, it seems there were no changes in code security.
And, hewprsa is a part of the phoenixtool, it creates the .dec file.

Ok, let's go for it. Indeed it's a really good opportunity that can help many others.
In case is useful here is the working BIOS extracted from the HP BIOS update pack FD file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!As07b4eTbk-drXPv3fkP...X?e=3sNAV3

Maybe you can start with one change at a time like just removing the whitelist before trying to unlock more things?

It is not the number of changes that affects this, but whether the rsa check remains in the same place as before. The patch for bypassing it is definitely working and the corresponding module is also there, but all this seems to be fictitious protection. There is something deeper.
No any idea about it, so far.

Got it.I will stand by for now and come back later to see if there are any news.
Thanks a lot for all your help with this!

I keep researching last night and found these:

- https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/...on-lenovo/

Not sure if they apply to this case, especially the second one.
Also wanted to ask if you want me to try your mod for sp55433?
I don't think it will make any difference but wanted to have your opinion.

What do you think?

Only the first one is appliable. But, as I said, it is to no avail. If a solution appears in the net, I will be one of the first to know about it.

I don't care, a working mod is in your best interest, but you better try it. The mod is still available for download, and who knows what will happen if a random user decides to download it))))

Can you please share again the mod for sp59761?
Since I tried to download it again but it's not available anymore.

I tried to flash the mod for sp55433, but instead of using the update package I extracted the bin file from the modded fd file and flash it directly with the programmer. It worked!
The laptop is starting, I can access the BIOS and the menues are unlocked (didn't try to install the new wifi card yet).
Only odd thing is that for some reason I can't boot from a USB disk that was working just fine with the newer BIOS.

Now I want to try the same method with sp59761. If it fails again, then I will flash the modded sp55433 again and try the wifi card plus try to boot from the SSD.

In the meantime I tried to change the wifi card.
The whitelist for the WiFi card seems to be removed, but on the other hand, it seems there is another whitelist for the Bluetooth module.

"Wireless Module not supported

The system has detected a Wireless module installed in the system is not
supported. System halted. Please remove device and restart.

Bluetooth Module ID (704)"

I deleted it. Fortunately, I can easily rebuild it, because BIOS Setup Utility modules are the same. So, I don't need to repeat the unsupress operations that I usually do in mods.

But now nothing will come of it, it has been tested in practice. Since I need to do something else with bluetooth, I upload that mod anyway.

Yes.
UPD: This is a problem of outdated BIOS version. It was not.

I'll do something with this.

By the "same method" I refer to using the programmer directly instead of the insyde flasher.
I was thinking that since I initially flashed the mod with the insyde flasher, something went wrong.
So it worth trying using the programmer directly and flash the bin file instead like I did with the mod for sp55433 and the original bios while recovering.
