Hello erev_84,

Your BIOS mod is complete! If the Advanced, Security, or Boot menus were previously hidden, they should be visible and accessible now. I also added the "Processor Assisted Virtualization" setting to the Advanced Menu under the IR setting. This BIOS has few unlockable settings, unfortunately, but you should have access to all of the basics and virtualization now.

Precautions/Disclaimers:
Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the BIOS image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that [if applicable] your notebook is fully charged (100%), that the power adapter is properly connected, and that the chance of a power outage occurring is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is good practice to have a working CRISIS recovery disk handy when flashing your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result or consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results of the BIOS flash!

Hello Sml6397,

First of all thank you very much for your interest

Does the bios support 4 gb ram after changes you made? Because The v1.20 BIOS has a memory bug where it doesn't show all 4GB of ram. That’s why ı am using Bios V1.19

I would be glad if you can make same changes on Bios V1.19 https://www.mediafire.com/file/ts7jtuwps...9.zip/file

Thanks in advance

I will modify the v1.19 BIOS image. I've always found it strange how manufacturers release BIOS updates that remove features like memory or create obvious bugs.

You can expect the mod by tomorrow!

I can modify your BIOS backup, but BIOS backups on their own are not flashable as they lack "platform data" that is contained in official BIOS updates. This platform data is basically instructions for the flashing program on how to flash that particular BIOS image. It can be added from other BIOS versions or BIOS updates for similar notebooks (same series, same chipset).

The problem that I am facing right now is that the BIOS update v1.20 is hidden in a .exe file that I am unable to extract. If I could extract the v1.20 BIOS image, then I could take the platform data from it and apply it to your v1.19 BIOS backup to make it flashable. Alternatively, if you have a copy of the official v1.19 BIOS executable (which is no longer on Acer's website), that would also work as I could modify it directly.

If you know of a way to extract Acer BIOS update executables to get the official BIOS image, please let me know. I'll see if I can figure out how to do this as well. Other BIOS types have ways to do so (for example, with many types you can use UniExtract or 7Zip, and with Samsung images, you can use the Samsung FW Modules Extractor).

Hello,

I think I understand which settings you are looking for in particular now. I checked and your BIOS image (v1.19 and v1.20) does not contain settings that would allow you to switch between UEFI and legacy BIOS boot modes. This firmware is completely BIOS, not UEFI enabled.

There is a Security Menu present in your BIOS. Does the attached screenshot show up in your BIOS Setup Utility? It is properly linked in your BIOS image, but there might be some code instructing it to hide itself. I can unhide it if that is the case. Either way, I can add the Virtualization setting if you would like also, but there isn't really much else to unhide in this particular BIOS image, unfortunately.
