[attachment=22623]I modified my BIOS and flashed successfully using CH341A but when the notebook turns on the bios it gives a corrupt error because of crc32, would anyone know how to remove this module or skip it in attachment to my BIOS dump

Hello,

I love your initiative in modding your own BIOS! Without a screenshot of the entire screen with the error, it is difficult to say what exactly is going on, but I would imagine that this is due to the NVRAM needing to be cleared after the flash.

Open up your computer, remove the CMOS/BIOS battery and the AC power adapter and the laptop battery, hold the power button for 20 seconds, and then after 15 minutes put/plug everything back in.

When you turn on your computer again, it might restart itself a few times or you may have to restart it 2 or 3 times yourself. If the NVRAM inconsistency was the issue, your system should now be good to go.

~Steven

Upon further research, your notebook's BIOS uses RSA Encryption. UEFITool can take care of this for notebooks up to around 2015, but notebooks released after that will brick if modded. Essentially, HP "signs" a hash of their BIOS. If a single bit of the BIOS is modified, then the hash calculated from the mod won't match what the BIOS BootBlock expects. Look up digital certificates with hashes for more information.

Did you make a full BIOS backup before flashing your mod using the CH341A? If so, you can simply flash that unmodified dump back and your notebook should boot again. Otherwise, this notebook is hard bricked. You can look up recovery procedures for this notebook, but I don't know if HP has those in place for these models.

Here, we can see that RSA signatures are in use. In theory, if a single bit is modified in the image, your computer should fail to boot.

That being said, I have never actually tried modding a post-2015 HP notebook myself (due to risk of bricking). If you would like, I could send you a modified BIOS image over PM and you could test it out. It will likely brick your notebook, but you have been able to recover from the backup you took. The BIOS image you posted in your first post is the modified one, right? If so, please upload the unmodified dump you recovered from.

In the likely case that your BIOS is unmoddable, I can give you a list of interesting settings and you can tell me which ones you want to change, and I can show you how to use the bootable RU.EFI utility to manually change hidden BIOS settings. This will very likely be how you must modify settings.

***WARNING: DO _NOT_ FLASH THIS MOD. IT ALMOST CERTAINLY WILL BRICK YOUR COMPUTER. I REPEAT, DO NOT FLASH THIS UNLESS YOU ARE GRASS_BUSH. GRASS_BUSH has a hardware programmer and a confirmed working backup.***

Hello GRASS_BUSH,

I have completed your BIOS mod. This will almost certainly brick your computer due to the RSA signature on your post-2015 HP notebook. However, you wanted to have a go at it and I was curious too.

I unlocked the Advanced and Chipset Menus via hex edits to the AMITSE module. I used UEFITool v58 NE for extracting the module from your backup and UEFITool v28 for inserting the modified AMITSE module back into the backup.

In the likely case that this __hard bricks__ your laptop, simply flash the backup that worked before back onto it using the hardware programmer. We will use RU.EFI to modify hidden settings in the likely case that a BIOS mod inevitably results in a dead computer.
