Hello, I try to build a PC with Pentium 4 Extreme Edition.
It's very hard to find a newer motherboard, which support this cpu.
Now I Have found a very good motherboard, wich works with the P4EE and even with Core2Quad.
The motherboard is the Asus P5W64-WS Professional with Intel 975X Chipset.
This board is really nice for overclocking.
The P4EE CPU works on it, but the microcodes are missing.
I have get a modded bios version, where these codes have been added.
It works fine and i don't get any message on start screen "unknown cpu" error.
The problem is, when i enter the menu "cpu-configuration" than hangs the bios.
I have try all bios versions, but the problem is the same. The bios hangs always on "cpu-configuration".
I don't come in this menu point. I want to change the multiplier on my unlocked P4EE.
But there a dirty trick. I must set and save the multiplier with the QX9650 in the bios.
Than I change the QX9650 to P4EE and the P4EE works with selected multiplier of QX9650.
But it's to cumbersome permanently to set the multiplier by changing cpu.
I hope someone can help me and modify the bios.
Perhaps someone can fix the problem at "cpu-configuration"?
Or perhaps it's possible to get the function "multiplier changing" in the bios category "configure system frequency/voltage"?
The function to enable/disable L3 cache of cpu is also interesting.
The modified bios version 1201 has added cpu microcodes of P4EE.
I would like have the bios version 0701 with added P4EE cpu microcodes and it's possible fixed "cpu-configuration" problem.
Perhaps it hels the bios version of a other Asus 975X mainboard, which has P4EE support. The P5WDG2-WS.
Here are the bios versions:
P5W64-WS Prof 1201 Mod
P5W64-WS Prof. 0701
P5WDG2 Bios
I hope you can understand me.
I would be delighted, if someone could help me.
Here is the bios information, which stands on the box:
8Mb flash ROM
AMI Bios
Green
PnP
DMI
Wfm2.0
ACPI v2.0a
SMBIOS v2.3
EZ flash2
CrashFree BIOS3
Here is the cpu information
P4EE with Gallatin core
3,40 GHz SL7GD 2MB L3, 200x17 (unlocked 8x, 12x to 17x)
3,46 GHz SL7NF 2MB L3, 266X13
Thanks :-)
