HP A8MN-BR Hematite Athlon II Upgrade Request
#11
Hello, I saw your post regarding CPU support on the A8MN-BR mobo. I also own this mobo and was wondering which processor you run on it. You write a TPD 45W works fine and you are running a 2600MHz processor (at least detected as one..).
Could you let me know which one?
I would greatly appreciate an answer from an expert!

Hi 1234s282
Is it possible that you mod your modded 504 on this?
I have also a A8MN-BR mobo with the 5.0.4 bios and tried to flash your modded 504 but thats go wrong!By startup i have the HP screen and than half a POST screen and then a screen with colourd blocks and cannot getinto the setup! So ive insert a new bios-chip.
My POST see's the AMD processor AMD Athlon 64 x2 4850e type. Here is the link:

Can you look into this please?

If POST can correctly identify the CPU Model number you must already have the microcode!

Hi,

I know the thread is old, but could someone reupload the BIOS mod or re add the microcodes for all supported CPU by the platform for the mainboard ASUS A8MN-BR?

Here is the link to the bios v5.04: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software9/C...p35154.exe

I second this request, will anyone be able to re-add microcodes for supported CPUs? I installed the Athlon 64 2650e in the board, it works, but with two problems:

1. The processor is reported as AMD model unknown (1) 1.6 GHz by the original BIOS.
2. It seems that with the CPU the integrated GPU does not work at all.

I even sent a private message to the original author of the modified bios from this forum, he told me that he does not have so old files anymore and suggested asking for a new mod by someone capable. Thanks, everyone!

Install your Athlon 64 2650e, make TXT-report of CPU-Z, zip it and attach to this topic.
BTW: Have you any suitable hardware programmer to flash BIOS?

Hello, sorry for the long delay, I was literally "away from the computer" - the one with the desired Athlon. The CPU-Z output is attached, however I do not have any means to flash the BIOS outside the motherboard. Is that necessary? I'm sorry for a lame question, I'm doing this for the first time and if the board wasn't so small and practical, I wouldn't be bothering anyone...

Thank you! Flashed it by replacing the .rom file in the original updater, then starting it from cmd.exe as an administrator - everything went smoothly, BIOS now recognizes my CPU as do Windows 10 (it took the System window about 8 minutes to update the info form Unknown to Athlon 2650e). Two observations:

1. Since the CPU name was updated in Windows, system tasks still load the system nearly to 100 % - reinstall may help, I'll try it.
2. It didn't help the integrated GPU to work, POST is OK, system boots, there just is no signal coming from the onboard DSUB connector - either there is something more in the firmware/ROM/BIOS that prevents it from work with my CPU, or there is in fact a hardware problem, I have no way to check it.

Again - thanks for the modification, it may enable my Hematite to live some more years...
