I don't think it is possible.

Hi,
I have the Compaq CQ56-206SA. I am having the problem where the CPU keeps throttling to 1.2-1.6ghz when under load. Sometimes it will run at 2.3 like it should but it keeps dropping. CPU temps are in low 60's (already cleaned the heatsink and repasted with MX-5)

The BIOS I have is the F15 bios, but for some reason my BIOS is 2MB (2,097,152 bytes) but the bios from HP and the modded bios are both 2.18 MB (2,294,656 bytes).

As a result, it will not let me flash another BIOS, even the original.

I have extracted the BIOS from the system so I do have a backup.

Why is the installed BIOS smaller than it should be? I'm confused.

Regards

Disable C states in Throttlestop.

I have just tried that, and it appears to have worked! Thanks!

I am still interested in why my BIOS is a different size. I would rather disable the C states in the BIOS than running a third party program in the background if at all possible.

Have you heard about digital signing?

Yes I have. Do I need the give the insyde bios flash tool extra parameters or something? Because it always complains that even the official HP BIOS is the incorrect size.
