[REQUEST] Asus GL553VE BIOS Mod - Bypass power button
#1
Hey!
I have an ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE laptop with a broken power button, which means that I’m unable to turn the computer on in any other way than shorting the power button pins on the keyboard connector on the motherboard.

I looked for other ways to power it on but none I found seem to be available on this laptop model by default. I’m not sure if the hardware is actually capable of any other way (nor if other ways do require some kind of hardware support) but the standard BIOS seems to be so limited that I'm inclined to think that there must be something hidden from me.

Can anyone help me with unlocking some BIOS feature that would help allow it to power on without the power button? (for example: when the lid opens; when any keyboard button is pressed; when the charger is plugged in; wake-on-lan).

The original BIOS is available here: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/GL...EAS308.zip

PS: I’m sorry if this is not the right way to ask for help here or if this is not how BIOS modding works at all. I found out that BIOS modding is a thing 2 days ago when looking for a solution for my problem, heh.

I don't know how to achieve your goal(bypass the power button) ,but i think i can help you out to unlock hidden options then you could try them yourself. First make a bios dump with this tool then attach the file.(Run dump.bat as administrator.)

Great, that would be amazing! Smile I am attaching the dump.

Edit: Added the dump in a ZIP.

Thank you very much for the mod! It added ALOT of options to the BIOS but unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any that would help with my problem. Sad

Maybe you could try to solder two jumper wire from pwr pin then pull them outside laptop. Shorting them to turn on the laptop ,or solder a switch on there two wire.
=========
Or purchase a power line then solder to pwr pin.
