[REQUEST] Toshiba Satellite L300 (PSLB0x & PSLB1x) BIOS Unlock
#11
A very frightening thing happened: the BIOS was updated, the laptop rebooted, then rebooted again, initialized the devices (the DVD drive clicked), and then... silence (only the cooler makes a lot of noise) (HAHAHA!). I decided to wait (5 minutes) and then it happened... miracle: the laptop decided that it was too early to break down and decided to fix itself (restore the BIOS). How happy I was when I saw that the operating system booted up and the laptop started working!

As for the BIOS backup, I did it (but I'll say right away that the BIOS version remained 1.50), so this unofficial 1.60 is from another laptop (now I'm sure of it, nothing has flashed since 5 times). In my laptop, the new version, well, it won't work in any way - the BIOS will self-repair to version 1.50 (well, or a "brick", who knows).

So far, this is the result. And I'm just wondering if it's possible to unlock anything at all in this InsydeH20 BIOS, or is it all a waste of time? I will say one more thing, I have a BIOS revision (Revision) - Insyde 3.0. So it is possible that 1.60 is only suitable for 3.5 revisions of Insyde BIOS.

Something like that

Here is my BIOS info from CPU-Z if needed:

I've compared B00daW's mod with official BIOS 1.50. It has only:
- repacked unchanged(!) DXE volume;
- updated microcode;
- changed version in $BVDT$ block.
So it's modded BIOS 1.50, not 1.60 *Unofficial*.

But I think I don't need this BIOS. I will call it 1.60 BIOS.

OK, but is it possible to unlock ALL Insyde BIOS? Are there any restrictions in them? Because after looking at the file I made with CPU-Z (the file in my previous post), I found lines of solid zeros with... addresses "0000" to the address "2930" inclusive. I have two ideas:
1) Either it's left just like that (for future BIOS development)
2) Or you can add some "unlockers" of secret settings to these addresses.

I don't know. I almost dropped my hands from despair. I just would like to adjust the CPU cooling for myself - but no program can do this. In my experience, there was already a laptop with a similar problem: ASUS A42F, but there was an AMI BIOS, and it was very easy to unlock the settings I needed (to control cooling) in it and flash the modified BIOS even more. I also have 3 laptops - DELL Vostro 500, but everything is easily done there through SpeedFan and the inclusion of DELL laptop support, but nothing works in TOSHIBA in any way. So this laptop has led me to a dead end, but I don't want to give up just like that. Having studied the Internet, I will probably find something about unlocking the Insyde BIOS of old revisions (like I have 3.0 for example).

And really, maybe someone knows something about Insyde BIOS and unlocking secret and hidden settings in them from the average user? Although I can't deny it...

In general, I haven't given up on my original question yet and I won't give up while I still have an interest in such old devices as my laptop

I have some news: I found these programs: "Universal IFR Extractor" and "UEFITool". I extracted this: "Section_PE32_image_SetupUtility_SetupUtility_body" using UEFITool from my BIOS, then converted it to "txt" format using Universal IFR Extractor, opened it and started looking for something that might be related to CPU fan control, and after a while found this:

These fields are actually invisible, so I need to figure out how to make them visible. Does anyone know how to do this?
It seems to me that a little more and I will reach my goal!

Hmmm, maybe you'll need this "txt" file... Here it is (in the attachment)
