laptop stuck in checking nvram... after flashing modded bios
I flashed this modded bios with the original flasher linked later in the thread, initially all seemed ok. Coming from version 1.60, it booted into bios rom crisis recovery utility v1.16 and flashed the 2.0 .rom. The original file was a .bin though, it that makes any difference(was I supposed to rename it?). I did 2-3 restarts in the following hour while installing windows 7 drivers on a fresh installation. Installed cpu is T2330, although I already have purchased a T8300. On the next day, the laptop hangs on checking nvram... message. No matter what I do. It rarely did checking nvram...update ok but I absolutely couldn't get past that. Tried removing wifi card, ram, modem, etc anything to make a difference but no. Figured out that this bios maybe doesn't play well with the dead cmos battery and that is why it became like this on the following day, after staying unplugged from the AC adapter for the night.
So yesterday I finally replaced the cmos battery (soldered new ML1220), the new one works-it holds the settings, time and date, but still, I get slapped across the face with the checking nvram error again.
I don't know what to do. There are bios flashers on aliexpress but I'm unsure which one to purchase and which bios to flash afterwards so it doesn't end up like this. I actually don't even know where is the bios chip but I guess I'll figure this out...
At this point I just want to get the laptop running again, no matter if its with T2330 or with T8300 with throttlestop or whatever. The machine is satellite L40-14B model no. PSL4CE - 004005G3 . I know it's an old laptop, but I have a use for it and don't just want to throw it away.
Could the whole issue be that I haven't installed the T8300 yet? Although it seems unlikely to me. Any help is welcome.
