Asus P5G41C-M LX Unlock CPU Voltage Control
#1
Brick
Hello, i have an Asus P5G41C-M LX 775 motherboard with an retrofitted Xeon E5450 and two sticks of DDR3 4gb ram from samsung.
I have a decent power supply, so i thought i will give overclocking a try, but the issue is, as it turns out, this motherboard has the CPU VCore(Cpu Voltage Control) option hidden in bios(in other motherboards from asus's p5g41 series, its right there in the "AI Overclocking" section), so i cannot change the cpu voltage.[Image: Zrzut-ekranu-2024-02-14-115453.png][Image: Zrzut-ekranu-2024-02-14-115442.png][Image: Zrzut-ekranu-2024-02-14-115638.png]

I am providing some CPU-Z screenshots, my current bios dumped using Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0, which has xeon microcodes integrated and a custom splash screen, i would like these to stay there.

Current BIOS: https://www.mediafire.com/file/tpwsp79d4...2.rom/file

On a sidenote, i would like to ask if it would be possible to modify an EFI bios from an other asus board with the same socket to work on my Legacy BIOS board?

This has already been done by some turkish youtuber here, he ported an ASUS P5Q Deluxe EFI Beta bios based on an early Aptio IV Implementation to another 775 board that featured normal AMI legacy bios: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uocsRJnHU4&t=29s

All I noticed is that P5QL bios runs on P5QL board.

I edited your dump. 0702.rom
CPU VID setting should now become available under Advanced - CPU Config.

Sadly, after flashing your bios, i cannot enter the bios setup utility anymore.

Only thing that is showing is a black screen and text saying "WAIT..."

Did you manage to recover? EZ flash became inaccesible. You may try flashing the unedited backup with afuwin.

Yeah, i did manage to, i have a way to externally flash the chip so don't worry. Just please try to make a working one with the cpu voltage control.

I updated the file.

I think I've found the problem. AMIBCP displays CPU VID setting as if it had 63 possible options, so I edited visibility of a setting which has this number of selectable options. But it turned out AMIBCP bugged on this one, because these options actually belong to another setting (PCI Express Frequency). I made completely wrong edits cos of this bug.

I think you are on a good track! I can enter the bios setup now, and the option is there, but unfortunately, its description and settings window are glitched (see attachments).

Still glitched sadly, i think its a problem with bios strings or smth.
