Hi, iam kinda new to this platform, i have an ideapad L340-15IRH Gaming with BGCN36WW (Latest Available bios), like the other replies in this fourm i want to get teh most out of my laptop by modding the bios to unlock the Advance bios menu with ram ovedrclocking and cpu tuning,
for some reason Lenovo set the motherboard of this device to only support up to 2400MHz ram although the cpu is capable of 2666MHz, although this small overclock will result in only 5% CPU perf increase, it will greatly affect the laptop's iGPU performance, which results in better FPS in gaming (about 15%), right now Iam using throttlestop to undervolt the CPU, but obviously a bios undervolt will be better,
Iam new here so i don't know how to do a bios dump, (with a quick google search apparently using "MSinfo32" or a 3rd party tool)
also, preferably i want to learn how to do it myself and test it without bricking the bios
what got me on this track is that a crappy technician tried to flash a bios and bricked it and tried to reflash the module directly and it worked to for like 3 months and somehow the module was damaged from his work and effects didn't show up till then,
so, i went to another one who made me spend a total of 2k EGP to replace the bios and I/O module and reflash the new module with one that has a different serial number
so, in short:
- i want to unlock advanced tab
- i want to know how to change the serial number
- i want to learn how to mod the bios myself so that i can also contribute (just let me know how to get on the right track)
