Hi guys,

I'm currently working on a modified BIOS for ASUS Crosshair 1 (Nf590, AM2), which will hopefully be somewhat AM3-Ready when the work is done.

As for a little teaser, the BIOS version - which is based on an unreleased/unofficial ASUS Beta BIOS - is numbered 1402 Big Grin What it does is improve compatability to current ATi 5000 series and Nvidia GTX400 series video adapters.... next to some other improvements of my own Wink

For those of you who can't wait and want to take a look at my work, you can go HERE and download an earlier (also unofficial release) for Crosshair numbered 1304. A thorrow explanation is given in my posting.

I'll post the new mod as soon as the work is done, so you can add it to your list. Please check THIS THREAD to help me solve my last problem, that way I can speed up the process of completing the mod.

Best regards, G.

Oh, and by the way.... since M2N32-SLi Deluxe and Crosshair are quasi bretherins, I have used AGESA from it's 5002 Beta BIOS for my mod. Since it works, I'm quite confident that when a solution is found for the 4x multi problem on M2N32-SLi Deluxe, we could as well implement it to Crosshair. Gosh, just thinking of full AM3 compatability and a Phenom X6 on that thing makes me drool Tongue

Greetz, G.

Sorry for it, but not totally clear for me :"were testing on nettle2 BIOS for AM3"?
Any thread, or something? Big Grin

Yes in the unlocked award BIOS section --> hp --> Nettle2. We were testting it out on the last page, seems someone glitched their board with it though but i believe it was a flashing mistake not the image. should be fun Big Grin

Hi Ali,
For me this worked perfectly,
Farnell had the socket cheap,
Google or Ebay can get you a cheap chip or chips.
The soldering is precision work, but it worked for me with a standard soldering iron.
Good luck,

Hey Guys!

As my first post on this board I have a request for a CPU Support Upgrade.
I own an ASUS M2N32SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition (Rev. 1.03G) and have just recently bought a new AMD Phenom IIX2 560 Black Edition CPU.

Via the shortinfo on the latest beta BIOS 5002 for this board I discovered, that it should support the CPU and went on holidays after buying it.
After that, 14 days had passed and all options for returning it were gone, I was ready to test the CPU (see the irony).
I flashed the BIOS to beta 5002, screwed up the whole chip, ordered a new chip with a pre-flashed beta 5002 and put it in with good hope. It worked!

The problem now is, it may recognize the CPU and also offer me all the overclocking options in BIOS, but whatever I set for FSB, Vcore or Multiplier and
even though Windows gets the right speed in system information, CPU-Z always tells me, that the CPU runs on Multi x4 and it's locked to it.
By 200Mhz FSB, which is in fact overclockable, i get per core 800 Mhz. Even under load (Prime95 & SuperPi).

Before you tell me to disable Cool'n'Quiet and C1E support or something like that. I've done that already. I've also set the Windows Power Saving method to maximum performance.

I went a little deeper into the ASUS hp and finally found out, that my CPU is not supported by the BIOS but the predecessor, the Phenom IIX2 555 BE is.
According to Wiki, the 560 has exactly the same specs as the 555 which is supported, so it should just be some copy&paste work to do.
I guess the info for the 560 may just not be written into the BIOS code, because the 560 was released in September and the BIOS is from May.

Because I'm not familiar to BIOS-editing, I'm asking you for a little support on that. I have already screwed one BIOS-Chip and don't want to ruin another one.

I'm attaching the 5002 beta to this post, maybe you can take a look at it.
EDIT: I've just noticed the readme on requesting. I can't find a donor BIOS with the same chipset... Sorry.
I hope it's not that much work to do and I would love you all, if anybody could help me.

Greetz,

Chris

P.S.: You can add me to the list of Project AM3 Ready ASUS.
I hope I was right to write the request here, didn't want to open a new topic on that...
