[Request] ASUS Q170M-C w/ XEON E3-1270 V5
#1
Hello, i purchased a Q170M-C by mistake and instead of dealing with returns or throwning it in a box for later use, i would like to try and use my XEON E3-1270 V5 in it. i attempted to boot it and nothing, the fan would spin for a breif second and then turn off, no image on the screen.

BIOS:4212
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-compon...me=Q170M-C
----
ISSUE: does not boot, fan spins briefly, blank screen
----
CPU spec code : SR2LF
----
Compatable boards/bios:
ASUS E3-PRO V5 - bios - 0305
ASUS P10S WS - bios - 0403
ASUS P10S-M WS - bios - 0402

also, just to clarify, this will require me to purchase a programmer such as the ch341a programmer to re program the bios correct?

Yes, you need a hardware programmer to flash a modded firmware.

Is it normal to have so many issues with NEO PROGRAMMER "not responding and freezing? i bricked it first, then was able to get one of the old bios to take on the chip, but could not get outimage.bin file to completely load onto the bios chip before freezing. should i just continue to try other bios files?

12/16/24 - UPDATE
I was able to get one of the modified bios to tak e and it did start the fans with the XEON chip but then went back to the the fans not spinning and not image. also noticed in the guide you said to click "yes" once after "ctrl B" but i have 2 screens to click yes on ( snapshots are listed below "boot gaurd" & "PTT" disable ). is this normal? or did i miss something on the intel flash tool?

SUCESS!!! or at least it boots up. Shortly after i updated my last post, I ran the "0506" ASUS bios and modified using Flash Image Tool to change reserved to "YES", then using AS PROGRAMMER to wrtie the chip, bios took and started up. As im sure most know, if you hear the beeps of your motherboard with no image, remember the XEON chips do not have internal graphics, so you will need a graphics card to show image. Thank you @DeathBringer. Hopefully this helps someone else.

I'd like to do this with my ASUS Q170-C motherboard so that I can use Xeon processors, how would I go about it? Can I just use a modded ROM and if so, could I please have a link?
