Hello, I am desperate for a potential motherboard mod. I purchased 2 MSI MAG B550M MORTAR for a new home server project. This has a particular PCIE slot and bandwidth that is exactly what I need to support everything on my 2 servers that I'm building.
One big issue: no ECC RAM support.
Asrock and gigabyte seem to offer wide ranging ECC RAM on B550, however MSI seems to have it disabled on all boards. They only operate in non-ECC mode. Is this a possible mod that can be done? I have spent hours looking at motherboards and I cant find any other board that matches the B550 mortar whilst being MATX, and supporting ECC.
I need to support 4 PCIe 4.0 m.2 SSDs and two x1 PCIe cards. The MSI Mortar allows me to run single M.2 up top, dual m.2 on the x16 aslot, and a single NVME on the bottom x16 slot. Then a NIC and super basic GPU in the x1 slots. The Mortar is perfect but lacks ECC support.
It would be so greatly appreciated if someone is capable of doing this. If someone knowledgeable knows its not possible, I would love to know.
