Compaq CQ58 I7-3632qm support
#1
hi everyone!
After hours and tons of forum threads of research I couldn't find anything related upgrading the CPU on compaq cq58. According to the motherboard description the socket and chipset can support i7-3632qm which has same tdp as the stock i3-2328m. What I'm concerned about is CPU bios whitelist/microcode and turbo mode.
Does anyone has experience with upgrading hp notebooks and compaq notebooks in particular? What are the odds of getting it up and running out of the box? VT in my case is not a must, but nice to have. I have found here somebody tried to unlock bios features on similiar machine https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-U...nced-Power, but unfortunatelly all links seems to be dead...

Firmware for BIOS is starting from F.34 which probably makes it not modable

I can buy SPI programmer if BIOS modification is going to be needed

You don't need any modded BIOS for support of i7-3632QM, use official BIOS.
BTW: look at this - https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/2697944

hi! thank you so much, this is kinda information I was looking all the day yesterday.

Hey did you buy the i7 3632qm? and did it work? i went to hp but saw they recommended the i5 3230M at most and directed everyone to the manual. Please tell me the i7 worked lol.
