[REQUEST] Pegatron M2N68-LA/HP Narra(2)-GL8E: BIOS Unlock
#11
Well no one has tried it on this board yet because we had no idea it also fell into the MCP6 cattegory, but for all the MCP61 boards that that we have released our mod for have had 100% flash success rates. The only failure was on The nettle3, which we realized had a different memory mapping but this mobo doesn't fall under that cattegory. So to date, you would be the first tester for the ABIT bios mod on an asus board. Yet the fact that this is HP at work and it has worked on the nettle2, a OEM hp board is promising. Also by careful I mean follow the instructions EXACTLY word for word. The only additional thing here is that when you flash, use the command line in the tutorial with /f as an additional switch.

We are rooting for you, but its always good to have a recovery plan in place and know there's always the risk. We can always reprogram your BIOS chip if something happens and you need it reprogrammed, assuming its removable.

Thanks,
TheWiz

I try to flash it but awdflash refuse to write the file. It give "Unknown Flash Type !" message with the /f argument. Without /f, it said "The program file's part number does not match with your system!". I can try winflash to flash the bios. I used it to update the bios on that computer.

No, it is highly reccomended that you use awdflash. Did you rename your filename to bios.bin? Unknown flash type could also indicate a chip that isn't recognized, so check to see if there are more recent versions of awdflash you can use.

I tried reflashing the hp bios with awdflash but it gave me a size mismatch error. I did not use the /f for that one. awdflash is able to backup the bios but it not identical to the file that was flashed, it differ by about 80 byte but file size is the same. Rename the bios file did not help.

I using the version of awdflash posted in the blog (8.82) and I found a version 8.83 but it did not make a difference. Searching around, I found someone using version 8.59e with this motherboard. I will try to find a copy of that version.

Well I know the image is the right size as everyone is using it, so I guess it is awdflash but normally awdflash doesn't act up it just works :S Keep me posted and make sure you check in if something comes up.

I am getting the same errors when I try to flash this board with HP's vanilla bios. I tried the force command etc. Same error "Unknown flash type" tried rename to bios.bin same error.
Did anyone get it ?

Has anyone had a failure with this bios for this chipset?
Has any of the flashes with this bios been made with a asus made motherboard?
Anything else I should do not mention in the guide?
What do you mean exactly by being careful?( like flash in dos + no power off/restart while flashing careful.)

you know whhat bro!!!

That mobo looks like the old one that i had.

And it was super easy to flash it, and worked perfectly Wink Flawless!! untill i upgraded.

Now regarding what thewiz says if ure brave enough to try well go for it, i made it and trust me it worts it!

And i made it with a Nettle 1!!!! They said it didnt worked and i thinked.. WTH! let's go for it! if it doesnt work i can get a new mobo and start over. XD

But im really glad that everything went fine and finally got my MCP61PM Fully flashed and my CPU runing @ 2200 mhz stable

Personally i made it from my win7 64bits i dont like that much to be typing and all that, one misstype and ure screwed. so i used the winflash i know that its not recomended but its more convenient for me Tongue.

And if by your place the electricity is a lil bit unstable you should get an UPS before trying Wink

if you need any advice i will try to help you

Best Regards from the riviera maya in Mexico!

The M2N-MX SE Plus is a MCP61 board, any chance this bios would work for that too?
