HP A8AE-LE v3.15
#21
Ok , breath a little more life into this board and lets see if we have another nettle2/nettle3 on our hands!

Im currently investigating the possibility of adding Phenom support to this board.

I am having issues flashing this updated BIOS. I followed the instructions to flash from the HP utility, and got the same message "Proper command line parameters were not passed. No action taken."

So, I went through the steps for AWDFlash of a USB drive, it when it reboots, it says "Default BIOS settings have been loaded due to BIOS or checksum issue, Press F1 to enter settings or allow the PC to continue."

Can someone help me with this issue?

Looks like your CMOS isn't clearing. Please try removing your battery for a while and then restarting with it in.

Sorry for the delay...busy few weeks. I left the CMOS battery out overnight and I am still unable to flash the bios with this modified version.

Is there anyway someone can check it for me? Has anyone been able to flash this update? I would really love to be able to update my bios with this...

Thanks!

Can you please retry with the instructions found exactly o the bototm of our official BIOS Update page.

Thank You,

Thanks, I went back to that page, and reread it...before I retry I want to make sure of something. This thread is in the unlocked Award forum. So, I assumed I should use the Award method?

So, for Award, the instructions say: For the award platform the bios file should be named bios.bin;

However, when I download the updated bios from this thread, the file is named 315.ROM. Does it matter that it is a ROM file and not a BIN file as the instructions say it should be for Award?

ETA: And I thank you for your time and patience helping me out with this. Smile

No problem on the help! Yes it is o to go ahead and rename it to BIOS.BIN as its really just the correct file extension, doesn't change the content of the file.

Wonderful thread!! Almost couldnt believe it when I ran across it. BUT, soon lost a lot of steam when I saw the Rev 3.15 Sad I as well have the HP (Asus) A8AE-LE MB but I have Rev 1.03, seemingly a much earlier version. Is this unlocked BIOS still able to be used on my board? It seems to have the same Hardware and IXP 400....?

Please let me know, I am willing to provide any info I can if it assists.

Hans

EDIT: Actually, I am now thinking this is a modified Version 3.15 of the BIOS., non-MB specific. WONDERFUL!!! However, the rapidshare seems to be down. This file hosted elsewhere?

FAIL! EDIT: Found the updated link on page 2 Smile Flashing now Smile Thanks to all for the work on this, its an awesome find!

So, seems the BIOS is flashed. I had to use the "Copy into the temp folder" method as I had the same error as 67Farmer.

Once flashed, I cleared CMOS and was back in the BIOS, but did not notice much that changed.

So I then used the AWDFlash utility and again was successful, I now have a new splash logo, no more COMPAQ, but again, once in the BIOS, not much seems different.

Is the BIOS thats located in the "All in one" package on page two an unlocked updated BIOS, or again the original by accident?

There may have not been that many hidden options, what do you ahve option wise in addition with the modded bios?
