Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Full AM3 Support
#71
Hi,

I couldnt find any topics with M2N SLI "non-deluxe". How is it with phenom 955 and higher? It is the same procedure with voltage and multiplier as in deluxe version? thanks

I have this board and would like to know what the best bios to use for newer AMD chips. I would be able to test new bios but no new cpu yet. I have a spare bios chip from a m2n-e board not sure if it will work for the m2n sli deluxe.

Thinking of getting a Phenom 2 x4 945 or an x6 if it works.

5002
1901 beta
1901 beta 2

Thanks,

Thanks,

Looks like I have a different motherboard...M2N 32 SLI Deluxe and not the M2N SLI Deluxe that the Wiz is working on. Any hope for my board?

Thanks,

Hi tkosen,

There is hope for your board. Please start a new thread with the BIOS and I'll see if I can port the support over.

Can someone help me clarify the AM3 CPU support in the 5001 beta?

1) ASUS' CPU Support List indicates that 5001 will support up to a Phenom II X4 955BE. Is this full functional support, or is this with the multiplier locked to 4x? Seems strange that ASUS would allow even a beta BIOS if it neuters the CPU it's intended to support, so I'm hoping 5001 PROPERLY supports at least the CPUs on the official list.

2) Have Phenom II X4 965 or 970 been tested to work without nTune, or do those require modification to the 4x multiplier as well?

Trying to figure it out because on the one hand I can get a 940 AM2+ and know for sure that it will function properly without modification, whereas I am getting confused by which AM3 CPUs will require clock multiplier changes within nTune and which ones will work at the proper speed right outta the box.

Hi KingKei,
Asus officialy supporting 955be is new to me, but I gave up with them when they stated the Phenom x4 was unsupported...
Check this for some more info on the 4x multiplier:

For me this works fine.

Sopo, I went back to check the CPU Support list just now because your comment had me questioning a bit. And sure enough, although 5001 Beta supports the Phenom II X4 955, it is the new C3 revision that has a TDP of 95W as opposed to the slightly older C2 revision with a 125W TDP. So I assume this has something to do with the dual-power plane issues drawing MORE than 125W. Someone on another forum indicated that it may be that the 95W revision, even with extra power draw, will still remain under the 125W ceiling.

So... I guess I just need to find myself a 95W revision.

Hello!

I have bought AMD Phenom II 965 BLack Edition for my ASUS M2n-Sli Deluxe Mobo.
I have tried to flash ASUS 5001 BIOS to make Phenom recognized by this Mobo.
It is recognized, but I can´t use USB keyboard to go to BIOS, I have read it is known issue with this CPU.

Qustion is, could be this tweaked to work ?

Booting Windows 7 32 bit is starting, but crashes with blue screen and this error:

"The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant."

Windows 7 64bit is not solution for me because I need 32bit windows for back compatibility.

Second question: is any chance to boot Windows 7 32bit with this CPU/Mobo?

thanx

Hi there! Thx for your inspirational thread that helped a lot!
I finally got my 955 (125W!) to run on the m2n-msi deluxe following some instructions gathered mostly in this forum.
By the way I upgraded from an Athlon x2 5800 and hat a hard time fighting with the fixed multiplier x4 in Win7 with the new cpu.

First deinstalling all software piled up by former tries... I got rid of a somehow installed 24 to 20 pin adaptor (mb-power supply), I went through all (newer) bios. Now I got the 1802AM3.BIN (mentioned before) working. I set the cpu multiplier to 16* as well I did it in ntune (nvidia, look for the latest version!) for all 4 cores. Cpu-z the first time reocodnized 3200mhz on each core, not 800 mhz! cpu mark measures my system with 4171. Win7 cpu benchmark is 7.3.

*core power, etc. set to "auto", c&q, c15, etc. all off

Power: 420W bquiet gold
3gb ram
ati hd 3870

Unbielevable, I got it working!!!

I just came home, changed again CPU for Phenom II 965, disconnected
USB keyboard and connected PS/2 one.

I could enter BIOS with pressing DEL key.

But I can´t move in menu with arrows!

It works with numerical arrows instead!

I have set higher voltages and disabled those things stated here in forum

and finally BOOTED Windows 7 32bit !!!!

I have installed Phenom MSR Tweaker x86 version and found that
my first core was set as at BIOS, 17x200mhz=3,4 ghz, but other three cores were running only at 800Mhz. I have set them all to 3,4Ghz, applied changes, rebooted machine and tried to run Call of Duty Black OPS.

OOOOPPPPSSSS it runs unbelievable fast!!! I could not believe my eyes,
with my old AMD X2 6000+ it was absolutely unplayable!

Phenom II (965) is really great deal and I can recommend it!!!

I can run it at 4GHZ now and system is perfectly stable.
