Need Help Getting Galaxy GF 9600GT running. Bios flipping between onboard and GFX
#1
I have a Gateway GM5639E Desktop Computer. I have a ECS MCP61P-AM Motherboard with the Phoeinx - Award Workstation BIOS.

My Gateway Specs....
http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/101485...1Rnv.shtml

Only upgrades I did was...
4 GB of RAM
750 Watt PSU
Updated BIOS from gateway site

The Problem is that I need to disable the Motherboard's Graphics because the motherboard is flip flopping between onboard graphics and PCI Express x16 Graphics Card.

The Card I am trying to run is...
Galaxy GF 9600GT PCI-E 512MB DDR3 256Bit w/HDTV/Dual DVI

What card looks like... (Info compared on label on card and on website is off)
http://www.galaxytechus.com/usa/productview.aspx?id=82

I hear ticking / clicking sound from motherboard. during each tick the power light flash's. After a while, I can hear a beep sound. I flashed the motherboard with newest update I can find. I never did hear beep sounds. Anyways, After 30 seconds, PC Reboots and boots off of onboard GFX.

Beep sound it makes is 1 long, 2 short.

I have a previous graphics card in the slot which does work which is a Nvidia GT 8500.

So the Galaxy GT 9600 is not showing a POST screen at all, this blank screen and click sounds for 30 seconds.

I believe its the BIOS trying to decide which Graphics to use or something but idk.

Hopefully there is a simple setting I can change in the BIOS to make it work.

Here is a video below of all my bios settings available..

also, someone else had similar issue..

Any help would be appreciated. Hope I don't have to buy a new motherboard.

You are a lucky guy when it does boot up via the onboard graphics! "Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep bep bep" normally is an issue with the PCI-ex-slot and the clicking sounds are normal I think on this board. I have the same and I am using an unlocked biostar-BIOS we made here with a GeForce GT250 GX2 without any problems. So you may also use one of our unlocked BIOSes for the MCP61-boards (HP nettle2, Acer E380 and so on).

And, just by the way, Phoenix-Award is still using the Award-BIOS, Phoenix uses its own standard wich is different.

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

ok, cool, so what download should I exactly use to flash the board with. I don't want to flash it with something that won't make it work. Bascily, link me to a download and I will try it out and post what happens. I think I fryed the 8500 GT card that work too recently. Was running a High Demanding Graphics Program and all a sudden. The PC blue screen. I reboot. Graphics card was set to 256 colors and was really hot. So I switch to onboard graphics. So I could have toasted my brothers 8500 GT Card. still dont know till I get the guts to test it. This another thing to spend money on.

I manage to flash the BIOS. The old BIOS that was installed did not have USB support so I had to make a ISO Image. I got it flashed but the PC is still doing the exact same problem.

The Beep Codes have changed. The BIOS I installed was....

Acer Aspire E380 R01-C0 With Unlocked Overclocking Options

The New Beep code is this one beep. The graphics card is doing same thing as before. Click and power light flash, repeatedly.

I have no idea what to do next. Any ideas?
Is the graphics card no good?

Also, the graphics card is getting power, the fan is spinning on it.

Plus, I been having this weird device manager listing. Some bug or something or hardware problem. I try testing graphics card in my brothers machine. Bad thing tho is, his pc is the same model as mine. But you never know I guess.

Here is image, keep in mind, the video card listed is onboard video.
