AMI BIOS Unlock request
#1
Hello all Smile

I'd be very grateful if somebody could unlock my bios; particularly all the frequency/voltage options.

I've attached a backup of my bios.

Also, whilst this is a little off topic, does anybody know what speed I could reasonably expect to achieve overclocking my i5 650 with a stock cooler and with an after market cooler please? I'd be grateful for any recommendations.

Thank you very much in advance.

Luke

hi mate ive took a look at your bios and there is nothing locked apart from smart fan controls but that wont help you overclock Big Grin the only other option is a retail bios but its a bit risky

Ok. That's a shame. Thanks for looking. What are the risks involved with using a retail bios please?

|You could possibly destroy your motherboard Sad you would also need to make a boot floppy or usb stick to reload original bios if it goes wrong but sometimes this does not work. post the make, model ext of your mobo and computer and we could take a look you could also do some research and post the retail bios you find and we could do a comparison

|Good luck lecky

Ok. Thanks for the reply. I don't think I'll bother with it to be honest - probably easier just to replace the board Smile Thanks again

Could you guys please take a look at the following BIOS and let me know if you have any luck? emachines really left nothing for the user with their OEM BIOS. I had an older emachines with an unlocked BIOS, and I'm used to having a little control of FSB, memory clocks, and sometimes the multiplier (which would be awesome on this rig). Keep up the good work guys. I would greatly appreciate any help on this one.

I checked out the emachines BIOS ROM image (P01-A2L.ROM) and none of the DRAM or HT BUS Frequencies are available, even though the editor says that they are enabled for the "User" - So if I have any luck unlocking those features and successfully flashing the image myself, I'll reply back here... Otherwise, keep me posted...

Just to let you know I checked my motherboard but it seems to be an internal acer/packard bell board with no retail equivalent. The only markings on it are "H57H-AM2(SN)". Looks like a new board for me Sad
