[REQUEST] Pegatron IPMTB-TK (HP Truckee) BIOS Unlock
#1
Hi,

I have an HP elite e9280t with an IPMTB-TK (Truckee) motherboard. Currently running American Megatrends Inc BIOS 5.24

Here's a link to the board: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...=c01901210&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=4066665

BIOS files from HP (v 5.28): ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/...p46255.exe

Any features that could be unlocked? Anything at all. It's a pretty cheap X58 board though, so I won't be surprised if there aren't any. Let me know if more information is needed.

Thanks for looking into it!

I just took a look onto the board and it seems to be a former ASUS-board... I will have a look if we can get another description for the same board with another name... Wink

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

I am back in here as I promised! Big Grin So tell me your needs!

Yes I am also the owner of one of these PCs, and when the y originally came out they were a pain t deal with. Wew got SIX replacements because the motherboard was so horrid. You can read here:

http://computerlimbo.com/Thread-hp-e9150...r-failures

As for the mod Tango is right, so let him do his work. I have the 5.28 BIOS installed without issues, but the last time I checked (5.18) there was nothing special worth unlocking. yet I may be able to do some testing, not sure yet.

Thanks for the quick replies and for looking into it.

About the bad boards: I read ALL about the class action lawsuit against HP elite with this stupid board and all of the owners having trouble with it. I ended up figuring it out three months later after I bought the computer and I had BSODs. Thought I was pretty screwed. Turns out it was only a bad piece of memory and I ended up swapping it out myself. From what I read, the e9280t as long as it has the latest board revision (mine does, I checked) is fine. Other than that I've had absolutely no problems with the system and I stress it quite often (gaming, video/audio encoding, a few vmware things running, torrents, etc).

I think HP is pretty nasty and despite the fact that this system is okay, I'll probably never buy anything from them again. Not after knowing how they treated everything with the previous revisions.

Off topic, but did you ever finally get your machine fixed by HP with the proper board?

Yep 6 boxes later we got the Rervision 1.05E board and its been rock solid. We also convinced them to throw in a nice load of upgrades Smile

NEVER HP again. I could write a book on them.

At least they compensated you somehow and finally fixed the issue. I would dread ever having to send my computer in for anything. My warranty is almost up in a few months since I bought this in November of 09. I swear that if something does happen to the board, I'll try my hand at picking up the pieces and building my own.

Yes we are still wondering if the compensation was worth all the trouble Big Grin In any event, if you want to plunge further I'd reccomend looking at the HP spec site and see if you can match it to any similar ASUS boards.

I have an HP Pavilion Elite E9290f. I want to get a modded BIOS because this BIOS sucks. I want to overclock my i7 920 to its true potential and as I am aware the BIOS is the only way to do this.

Here is all the information you may need:

This is my motherboard (motherboard is a link)

So is it possible to mod this BIOS? Is there something out there that can mod it? Would this(this is a link) tool work?

I am new to this kind of stuff so bear with me but the only thing I want to do is overclock my CPU get some more advanced options in my BIOS to do so.

Thanks for the help!

Better download SetFSB, find your clock generator (it's one of the two ICs between two long PCI-E slots on your board) and overclock. This is because I can't find traces of any BCLK overclocking options. But there's a bunch of others things that can be added later.

So start looking for software overclocking.

I dont think the i7 processors can be overclocked with software because the i7 has no front side bus as the MCC is actually IN the chip. I was going to overclock with this method http://hothardware.com/Reviews/Overclock...Processor/
