[REQUEST] Pegatron IPMTB-TK (HP Truckee) BIOS Unlock
#11
From your link
Quote:Core i7 processors drive their frequencies based off a reference clock set on the motherboard, which is user-adjustable. If you adjust the reference clock to a higher-rate, CPU and memory speeds rise with it, as their individual clock frequencies are based off multipliers of this reference clock.
This reference frequency is what I've meant. And it can be controlled by software like SetFSB. Despite the name.

Ok I will try it....so your saying I can overclock my i7 with software?

Still if someone can get me a modded BIOS it would me nice to have.

Yes, you certainly can overclock by software. Software does the same thing that BIOS does. Since I see no options related to BCLK, you only have software left.

Ok and obviously by overclocking using this software my processor will use more power right? I am not sure if I can do it right now I may need to purchase a new PSU as I only have a stock 460W. I have the Nvidia GTX 260, 2 hard drives, and 6 sticks of DDR3 RAM. I used a PSU calculator and I am very close to 460 and that's without taking the efficiency off.

Also will the software let me overclock to 3.5 with stability? The method I was going to use before said it could overclock it up to 4.0 Ghz with stability. I am assuming this software will not require we to up the voltage because my BIOS will not let me do that.

Also I havent been able to find the clock generator yet. I found the system crystal and some chips around it bu the writing on the chips is so small.

What's written on these ICs? http://img600.imageshack.us/i/c01901213.jpg/

One of them should be the clockgen.
Before changing PSU you should be sure that the clockgen can be accessed by software.

No one can guarantee a certain level of overclocking. It may be very likely but not guaranteed.

I repeat, altering BCLK in BIOS and via software in the exactly same procedure. The difference might be in additional settings - and I can provide some of them, just tell what you want and I'll try. Articles usually make suggestions for similar systems. You won't expect overclocking to be the same when you use a box cooler while the article describes the use of a high end one. So why do you compare a board designed with overclocking capabilities with an OEM and low budget one?

The first rule of overclocking - overclocking starts before you buy your hardware.

This is because I can't find traces of any BCLK overclocking options. But there's a bunch of others things that can be added later.

So start looking for software overclocking.

I can get you the exact numbers later but they didnt match up with anything on setFSB. I think the first three letters were SLC and some numbers on the big rectangle chip.

Hello mods,

I am currently building my first rig on a OEM manufactured motherboard. I know... I should buy a new motherboard. However, I decided to give it a try and mod my way into the bios in order to overclock my i7 920.

Currently, I have HP who is locking the bios (HP V5.29) on american megatrends inc. v02.61

Can someone give me any advice on this?

I don't kow which HP OEM MB you actually have (since you don't like the model #) but most HP OEM MB's have an HP OEM BIOS which has almost NOT hidden features to unlock.
They have very few settings in them so that they are easier to support.

I have a pegatron truckee motherboard. So I suppose it is not possible to crack the bios on this board then. I tried the programs "clockgen" but there is no support there either. Do you have any other ideas how overclock the CPU for this motherboard/bios?
