Acer Aspire T180
#1
Hi!Smile
Nice forums!

I'd like to mod my BIOS to allow overclocking (CPU, FSB, Multiplier, Voltage etc... if possible), but the guides I found are too complicated for me. Actually, I don't understand a bit of these values and codes. So I now try to find someone to help me out.Blush
Here is my configuration:

System make and model: Acer Aspire T180
Motherboard Make/Model: nVidia nForce 405 / GeForce 6100
Bios Version You Want Modding: R01-C0
CPU: AMD Sempron 3000+ 1,61GHz (Codename "Vanila")

Link To Official Bios Download: Direct download or Acer's Service & Support

Thank you, and have a good dayWink

Hey Mate

your in for some good news Big Grin

Full Overclocking Potential Is Available Big Grin

You have CPU Frequency , Voltage , RAM Overclocking (Memory) , PCI-E Overclocking and quite a bit more unlocked aswell!!!

By the way , you cant unlock multiplier unless you have an extreme processor (Like quad core extreme instead of quad core). Standard processors have their multiplier locked and this has nothing to with the bios.

Heres the link , flash at your own risk!!!

Enjoy!

Many thanks mate! I'll try it out right now. Have re-flashed 1 bios too so np if it beeps Shy

EDIT:
All done! No Problems at all. Although I'll have to figure out, if I'll need to change "↓↑" thing.
Also I got "Found New Hardware" wizard coming up saying: This wizard helps you install software for:
Coprocessor, resulting to install failure of course
I LOLd, but then immediately changed serious Big Grin
Got no time for now, but I'll experiment with them a little and then I'll post here, if I got any great/bad news

Ok , remember though that you have passed the worst lolTongue

You can safely boot windows and the options are there Big Grin

Just remember to consider buying a new cpu cooler , better cpu thermal paste to attach the cooler to the cpu and a few more fans if theres room as overclocking generates extra heat from the system which the stock cooler wont be able to cope with as it wasnt designed with overclocking in mind!!

Enjoy!

Yeah, I know thatSmile
Seems ok for now, though: +16C is very well
I wanted to say though, that voltages are not changeable in PC health status. Also seems that changing CPU frequency doesn't do anything at all, because FSB and CPU show all same in CPU-ZUndecided

hmm strange , because they should be selectable and changeable now. Make sure you save the changes when you exit the bios!!

Oh by the way , anything under Pc Health Just Reports Data Back to you , to actually change the options go under Advanced , CPU Feature , Npt Vid Control and Npt Fid Control are voltages Big Grin

I don't have anything expandable under advanced chipset Sad
And yes, I did saved the changes. You sure changing CPU frequency is enough? Maybe some jumper is restricting his owner to play with his mobo?Big Grin
I'll knock his head off, shall he complainBig Grin

lolTongue

Check the motherboard for a jumper that might be stopping things being changed in the bios , or look for an option that says "Bios Protect" or something similar

I found something, but I din't find anything similar to protect bios. Only clear CMOS jumper was there. (The only jumper on the motherboardConfused)
But none of BIOS overclocking values show up in windows. I think its still protected by something. Take a look at these pictures. Maybe you'll find something interesting.
