Does the white list removal remove the whitelist for everything or only the wireless lan? I am looking at getting an SSD module but I wanted to make sure first.

your request: I need to remove the white list so I can upgrade to the Intel Ultimate N 633ANHMW wifi adaptor, i'm currently using the 5100agn.

my answer: WLAN whitelist check "removed"

the mod exactly fit your request, no more no less.

Is there any known restriction to use a SSD on this machine?

Not that I know off, but the alternative mini pcie slot is designed for Hp's tv tuner, i'm sure there is something in the whitelist for that but I haven't found any information about it. This slot is empty just wanted to throw something in like bluetooth or ssd, anything really.

Thanks for unlocking the WLAN when the new card comes from Amazon i'll confirm if it works.

I have already updated the bios without issue.

A note for other users planning on an upgrade, the notebook contains only 2 antennas while the Intel 6300 centrino card have the capability for 3 so you will need to order one (easily found on amazon). Also the network card is located under the hard drive next to the ram.

The network card successfully installed and works great. A few hiccups have occurred but they could be windows related otherwise smooth sailing, this bios update works.
