Using BIOS of another PC
#1
Hi,
I have a question that may be a bit strange but I hope you will understand.

I want to know which hardware specifications are important for the BIOS to work correctly. In my understanding the only thing that matters, is the chipset, right?
So if I wanted to flash my BIOS to a BIOS which is designed for another laptop but uses the same chipset and BIOS manufacturer, would it perhaps work?

If I backup my BIOS, is there any risk of destroying the chipset or the BIOS chip?

The reason why I want to try this --> My laptop has an integrated graphics chip which I could use for hybrid graphics but this feature is disabled with no option to turn it on by BIOS. So I searched a laptop with similar specs (same chipset Intel HM55, same CPU, both Aptio) but with hybrid graphics. Is it worth trying this different BIOS?

Generally , no it wont work , the BIOSes are made specifically for that board. Its a very big risk to take and i personally WOULD NOT recommend it.

For the reason you have specified , please make a new request in the appropriate unlocking forum (Phoenix im guessing??) and we will be able to see if theoption you want is hidden and unlock it for you.
