Alienware M17x R3 Bios Unlock
#1
I saw the R2 guys have marvelous bios options unlocked courtesy of TheWiz. I was wondering if the same features can be enabled in the m17x R3 bios like the ones found here:
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Al...OC-Options

thanks for all the hard work!

The R3 is indeed an Insyde BIOS, but I think we may have some luck with it yet as I have found the option table in the BIOS.

TheWiz

Does anyone have the A12 unlocked?

I bought a Nvidia 680m card and it wont work without the unlock.

"Some varied lockups" does not say enough for someone to help you diagnose the issue, or try and avoid it or BIOS settings causing it. Please explain in exact detail, what happens, when and if it's always, is there BSOD codes, if yes what, does it ever boot to windows or stops every time so it's not usable with win10 etc

Does the stock A12 BIOS do the same? Aside from tools/methods, are you simply wanting someone else to unlock it again and see if it differs from the original years old one? If yes, I can do that, and update it with more modern CPU microcodes and option roms probably too.

Tools for Insyde BIOS modification can be found all over the internet, including here there is links to the entire package of inside tools (I just added new link to the thread not long ago, maybe month or two). To mod this BIOS you need to do it via UEFITool and IFR/hex, from what I see at a quick glance inside there, sorry short on time right now.
