Request for WLAN whitelist removal/edit - ASUS Z53T - F3T Mainboard -BIOS F3TAS.229
#1
Hi All,

i bought a new mini PCIe WLAN card for my ASUS Z53T notebook. The Notebook does not boot with this new card. (I found users with the same Problem in other forums.)

The new card is a ANATEL AR5BXB92 with Atheros chipset.

The old was a Azurewave AR5BXB61 with Atheros chipset.
PCI VenID: 16 8C
PCI DevID: 00 1C
PCI SubsysID: 30 65 16 8C

The notebook uses an AMI Bios.

BIOS file could be found on
ASUS Support --> Downloads --> Notebook --> Z53 Series --> Z53T

Is it possible to unlock this BIOS. Or ist there a BIOS editor for AMI BIOS?

kind regards.

I have exactly the same problem since yesterday and a solution would be very happy.
Has anybody an Idea?

wonderful request with all needed informations, perfect.

But, there is no trace of this ID in the modules and especially in module 1B always containing whitelist protection, i think there is no whitelist. May be a hardware incompatibility with the new card, try to tape pin 20 (search on the net with "tape pin 20" search key)

Hi TTAV134,

i have tried "pin 20 taping" - it doesn´t work.
The notebook doesn´t start withe card inserted.
When i try to hotplug the card WIN XP recognizes the card.
New hardware detected. --> Atheros 9280 WLAN Card
The driver install dialog was opened, but the touchpad and the keyboard are then out of function. (Maybe it is caused by the BIOS)

I think this means the card is electrical ok.

Does the ASUS 1101HA have a whitelist lock in BIOS?

http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Asus-1101HA

Is the whitelist always in 1B block?
Is the card id string contiguous or separated written a the BIOS image with a normally whitelist?

if you find the string 8C 16 you must also find the string 1C 00 contiguous or not far away.
I never had to remove whitelist in an ASUS but in lenovo and HP, the protection is in 1B module.

Can I revive this thread and ask if anyone has been able to remove whitelisting on the F3t series from ASUS? I'd be happy to try and remove myself, though searching the BIOS I can find no reference to the original WLAN ID nor 8C 16 with 1C 00 nearby.

Does anyone know how whitelisting is done in the series? Is there anything more can be done to use a different WLAN card?
