[Removed] for Toshiba Satellite L500 WhiteList Removal
#1
Laptop Manufacturer: Toshiba
Product Line: Satellite
Model Number: L500 - 13W
Part Number: PSLJ3E - 00X01
Bios Type: Phoenix
System Bios Version: 2.10
Bios File from Toshiba: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-file...135948.zip
Existing Wifi Card: Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8172&SUBSYS_815110EC&REV_10
Existing Wifi card info: Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4328&SUBSYS_1366103C&REV_03

I'm not certain that it is a whilist problem, because windows 7 detects the card, installs the drivers, but it isn't activated. And I don't have a "hard Switch", and in BIOS the "switch" it's activated.

Any advice?

Thank's in Advanced

If the boot process does not complain about the new wifi card then i guess is not whitelist problem.

I think you must research in google about the PCI-e pinout, there's a pin (can't remember now what number) that handles the hardware switch to turn on and off, try to put a bit of isolate tape in that concrete pin of your wifi card before inserting in the PCI-e.

Good luck.
Camilo.

Toshiba use the fn + f8 key to toggle the wifi on and off, you cant use it until you install Toshiba value added package. Basically go to the Toshiba site and install the drivers for the laptop.

Thanks Camilo.

Just checked and it's Pin 20 (I guess for every mini - PCI-e).

It's working now Smile

with "power" the pin 20 disables the radio.
Just had to "cut" the power. (some tiny piece of electric tape did the trick).

Regards!

sorry, but it doesn't work. I also checked the Bios, and it was activated.
Maybe it's a bug... don't know...

I did BIOS hack for my L500 laptop yesterday for a AR5008 chip. It worked successfully (using latest 2.10WIN BIOS).

If you are still interested, drop me a PM, and I'll modify it for you.

By the way, here is the Toshiba L500 Wifi whitelist:
168C:002A (Atheros AR928X)
168C:002B (Atheros AR9285)
8086:4235 (Intel WiFi Link 5300)
8086:4232 (Intel WiFi Link 5100)
8086:423C (Intel WiFi Link 5150)
10EC:8199 (Realtek 8187SE)
10EC:8192 (Realtek 8192SE)
10EC:8172 (Realtek 8191SE)
BTW, withelist is located in BIOSCOD02.ROM, between offset 49F0 and 4A20.

Separator is 00 14.
