Already tried that. No difference. Do you have a separate copy of that application? Perhaps the version that Ahmed shared with me via Mediafile was corrupt?

this tool is safe and i have KASPER INTERNET SECURITY 2012 and it reports no threats .
it`s known issue that some antivirus reads the flash tools or bios tools as trojan or virus .
anyway , i think the tool won`t work as the AVG will automatically quarantine or stop running it .
please disable the AVG then download the file again and open it .

Is this a 32-bit application? Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit version, Service Pack 1.
Are there any settings in the application under Properties that I should reset?
I am at a loss for options.

Ahmed:
I found another thread in Unlocked Phoenix BIOSes: Sony VGN-AR760U - Unlocked hidden options & EIST Unlocked, started by hippotek, who had received support from kizwan.
In it, he had provided the same BIOS that my Sony VGN-AR840e laptop uses - R2090J8.rom. Can this BIOS file be modified for my laptop?
I have attached the BIOS file from hippotek's R2090J8.rom file, as well as the kizwan created SLIC file for R2090J8.rom. My dmidecode.txt file generated from within linux was attached to my first posting in this thread which identifies my BIOS version as R2090J8.rom. I would like to be able to have VT enabled by default, and access to other settings, including ACHI.
Hope that this helps, as I was getting nowhere with the BIOS Backup Utility with my computer's Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS.
If this is possible, after we are done, I would love how to program/code these BIOS changes myself. Hope that is possible.

this tool reads your bios then back it up and save the backup in file ( eg , bios .ROM )
just disable UAC in win7 OR vista and run the tool.
then make sure the tool reads your bios size ( 1MB , 2MB .......etc ) and don`t adjust it manually .
click READ then after it completes reading the bios ( 100% ) click backup and save the file then upload it .
the new file will have .ROM extension which will make you only able to flash the file from dos ( i don`t knew if the flash utility will accept the .ROM file but if not , flash it from dos )
i`m waiting you to update the file
Tried in safe mode, as suggested by Toshiba to me.
Get the following message:
Install Driver Fail! Please Run as Administrator!
Click OK, Application opens, two buttons on bottom of box, to the left, are greyed out. Sat for 15 minutes, nothing changes.
Any other thoughts?
Running naked for anti-virus protection. Uninstalled AVG, and voila, I could run the BIOS utility as Administrator. I am attaching my resulting ROM file, labeled PhoenixTechnologiesLTD-R2090J8.rom, which is 1MB in size.
Hope this will help us get over the hump toward unlocking my Sony VAIO VGN-QR840e BIOS.

i can confirm that the virtualizayion option is already found in KIZWAN`S modified bios file .
you will find this option ( VT CAPABILITY ) in the cpu sub-menu .
if you are sure that this bios is the same as your notebook`s one , flash it and you would find all options unlocked .
concerning the backup tool , this tool is safe and it didn`t harm your computer .
as i told you in post num. 14 , just disable the AVG and it would work .
your bios file ( made by the backup tool ) seems to be the same as the bios which KIZWAN had modified .
flash the bios modified by KIZWAN and it would unlock all options

The ROM file with the SLIC in the zipfile name? Just want to be extremely careful which BIOS file I use.
Note that the BIOS file created by kizwan is in .WPH format.
What do I need to do to modify it to be a .BIN file? Is it merely renaming the file, or do I have to run it through some application first, and then save it as a .BIN?
